1. The Game
The terrain of each stage is made up of two types of block, type A and type B, one having no hue, and the other having a bright color. The game involves two Player Blocks. Player Block A, being A colored, uses the B colored terrain as its movement path, and the opposite goes for Player Block B. Gravity affects both of these Player Blocks, each in opposite directions. The player can switch between these two Player Blocks and use this gravity to navigate them to the bottom of each's terrain, clearing the stage.
2. Graphics Concept [Simplicity]: The Look
The entire game, excluding small details, is painted in color A and B (mentioned above), being (32,32,32) and (192,255,0) by default. Every background and terrain is made up of polygons, mostly triangles and squares.
3. Graphics Concept [Simplicity]: The Animations
Instead of every movement and transition having a set speed (moving at a steady speed), I decided that having a rubber-band-like movement would make the game feel smoother and add to the simplicity somehow. *Pretty proud of my simulation of the scrolling animation in the iOS 7 messages app.
4. Controls
Instead of having bulky buttons on the screen, covering up the game view, I decided to use entire sides of the screen as buttons, similar to runner games like HellKid of Jetpack Joyride. But since SE required a button to jump and change Player Blocks, I used the left & right 1/5 of the screen as the left & right button, the middle for switching, and pressing both left and right for jumping.
5. Easter Eggs
Like any other game, SE also has hidden items on parts of the map where it especially hard to reach or look for. The two-color graphics of the game makes hiding the items too easy.
6. Crowd Sourcing
Since I can't work on this game forever, I thought of an intuitive way to make sure users don't get bored with the existing stages. So, I'm putting in a feature where users can make their own stages and share it with everyone. Of course, people will be able to play the stages, and rate them to make sure the fun ones get attention from more users. *And hopefully Google offers a free hosting service for this kind of online feature...
7. Language Support
SE will have language support for both English and Korean ('cus I'm Korean;).*That's why the following trailer has a little bit of Korean in it.
