In a press release posted via Develop, Crytek has announced that it is bringing its first-person climbing game, The Climb, to Gamescom, but with a twist; it will be the first time the game will be playable with motion controls via the Oculus Touch. As Crytek says:

“Gamers have the chance to get their hands on the controllers before they go on general sale, and will discover how it feels to conquer deadly cliff faces in VR as the direct control of Touch replicates their movements with extraordinary precision and introduces intuitive physics that mirror climbing in the real world. The Climb, available for download now from Oculus Home, will be updated for free to be fully compatible with Oculus Touch controllers when the game-changing peripherals launch.”

In addition to showing The Climb’s new controls, Crytek will also be offering the first public hands-on demos of its upcoming sci-fi adventure, Robinson: The Journey. As Crytek describes the game:

“Players will assume the role of Robin, a young boy cast away on a hostile, mysterious planet, who must learn to survive the dangers of a rich ecosystem inhabited by awe-inspiring dinosaurs.”

Gamescom takes place this month, from August 18 through to August 21 in Cologne, Germany. The Oculus Touch is due to ship sometime in Q4 this year.
