Stumbled across and just popped in to "acTuAlLy" Vietnam correct is only M16 and M16A1 plus some experimental models XM177 etc. A3 came much later and to my limited knowledge only got some use instead US choose the A4 with 3-round burst (yuck) later supplemented (replaced?) with M4A1.
