The third emotional state is Grief, this is a state for the less skilled players and can be achieved by losing a lot of fights. The idea behind this state is the fact you sort of surrender to your fate, you don't run away but instead stay and fight. (Never give up, never surrender!) applies here but you still end up losing. The aspect of sadness can be found in the blue color, tears and scars from lost battles. People might mock you for being in grief but do remember you will have the ability to be underestimated.
The process of creating these characters has been fun but also a challenge, here you can see how the base character was designed from start to finish. Starting with the outlines we glued together the base, sadly we had to cut KFC due to copyrights and what not.
From this base the artist created a first sketch that applied to the description given. And from here on it's a lot of red lines and text work, pointing out what's wrong and should be changed or is right with the design.
The artist responsible for these wonderful concepts is Zoe Zong, we found her on ConceptArt.org and instantly fell in love with her work. She has a great diversity in art styles, from realistic to cartoon and was a perfect match for this project.
Next week we will post the final emotional state, rage design process, and hope to have time to polish up a small prototype for you to play.
Damn. Concept is so pretty. Fantastic idea - a lot of details and not too much of them. I mean there's balance You didn't overdo it. In one word: fantastic.
