A lot of time has passed since we last provided an update on this project. It's not dead at least most of it isn't, it's just different. A year of pause time has passed but we are back with a completely new intake on emotions in games. This means we took out the story part so if you're big on reading I'd suggest you continue.
The first concept didn't work out as we hoped, so we figured out what the problems were and made a much more simple version. Not to say we will never do anything with the old idea, but it's on ice for the time being. (And feel free to ask if you can use it)
Our new concept is a dumbed down version of the emotional system, you no longer have 32+ emotional states, instead there are only 4, plus one neutral state. The way you develop these states is no longer trough conversation with NPC's but rather through the way you play.
The new element in the game is sword fighting, not like an RPG or hack & slash but instead similar to the Jedi Knight series. The greatest Light Saber fighting game in the world, in my eyes. Jedi Knight gave a level of freedom over your weapon that is not seen in many other games, and we wish to expand on that.
By using the power of google we found an actual sword fighter that has opened our eyes on "renaissance sword fighting", you heard it right, no katanas (this was our initial idea tbh) but longswords and the lost art of medieval swordplay.
In the weeks to come we will post concepts, news and prototypes regarding the project's new direction. Starting with the neutral character concept.
