Orbital Decay is an unique side-scrolling shooter and tower defence hybrid, with a sci-fi theme. It also feature a space opera-like background story, that you uncover as you progress through the 10 levels.

The game features the Radiant Star, an AI controller space ship, that awakens in unknown space. As you take control of its systems and enemies gather around you, you start to re-build its point defences, its fighters and fighter bays and its main weapon, the Ultragun.

It was originally released in 2009 as a Flash game and it saw minor success, being chosen for Kongregate badges and raking up more than 5 million game-plays worldwide. In 2018, as part of its 10 year anniversary, I have decided to port it to HTML5 and also upgrade its dated UI.

The game was coded in Haxe.
