An excellent replacement for the default map. This is a terrain map, made using landscape files. See the screenshot, as the proverb "a picture is worth a thousand words" does apply here.

1. Overview
*****************************************************************
This is a replacement for The Elder Scrolls: Oblivion's default in-game map. It was made using the game's landscape files, resulting in a fairly accurate representation of Cyrodiil's terrain. The map was made as an alternative to some of the excellent stylized maps that have already been created.
NOTE:
Cyrodiil Terrain Map is much more complex than the map provided by the original game and is best viewed at higher resolutions.

3. Installation:
*****************************************************************
Method 1, installation using Oblivion Mod Manager:
I highly recommend downloading Oblivion Mod Manager (http://timeslip.chorrol.com/obmm.html) to install mods, including Cyrodiil Terrain Map. Once you have installed this program, unzip the map into its own directory. Start Oblivion Mod Manager and click 'create' to create a new omod. Input a name for the mod, then click 'add folder' and select the directory where you unzipped Cyrodiil Terrain Map. Once you have done this, click 'create omod' and your omod will be created. Back at the main menu, select your new Cyrodiil Terrain Map omod and click activate. The mod will now be ready for use.
Method 2, manual installation:
If you have installed a different in-game map, be sure to make backup copies of the existing cyrodiil_resized.dds files. The files replaced by "Cyrodiil Terrain Map.zip" are listed below.
C:\Program Files\Bethesda Softworks\Oblivion\Data\textures\menus\map\world\cyrodiil_resized.dds
C:\Program Files\Bethesda Softworks\Oblivion\Data\textures\menus50\map\world\cyrodiil_resized.dds
C:\Program Files\Bethesda Softworks\Oblivion\Data\textures\menus80\map\world\cyrodiil_resized.dds
To install the Cyrodiil Terrain Map, extract the contents of this archive into Oblivion's data directory or copy the .zip file's terrain folder into the data directory manually. The game's data directory is C:\Program Files\Bethesda Softworks\Oblivion\Data by default.
Once the required files have been successfully installed, just run the game. The old map will be replaced.
NOTE:
If you have correctly installed the map and it still does not show up in the game, you may need to open the ArchiveInvalidation.txt file located in your Oblivion directory.
Add the following lines to the file:
textures/menus/map/world/cyrodiil_resized.dds
textures/menus50/map/world/cyrodiil_resized.dds
textures/menus80/map/world/cyrodiil_resized.dds
*****************************************************************
3. Uninstallation:
*****************************************************************
If you installed with Oblivion Mod Manager:
Run Oblivion Mod Manager. Select the Cyrodiil Terrain Map Omod, and click Deactivate. Right click the Cyrodiil Terrain Map omod and select the 'delete' option.
If you installed the mod manually:
Delete the 3 files listed above. The game's default map will be restored. If you changed the ArchiveInvalidation.txt file, remove the lines for Cyrodiil Terrain Map.
