Description
Not On My Pizza is a first person multiplayer LAN shooter, where four players can battle it out in a pizza themed world. Defeat your enemies and fire your least favourite pizza toppings off the map to become the supreme topping.
History
Not On My Pizza was the result of around five weeks of brainstorming game ideas. The final idea was formed from two ideas: a tank game and a pizza battle royale.
Not On My Pizza was originally called Food Wars, and was then changed to AlmighTea Buffet. The story was that long ago, four food groups (called factions) were co-existing peacefully when a flag (made from a toothpick) fell from the heavens. This flag was dropped by a being called AlmighTea EntiTea (in case you haven't guessed, he was a sentient tea bag). AlmighTea was kind of like the god of this world, and he dropped the flag because he was bored and required amusement. Since the flag was something new and interesting, the four factions were very excited to figure out what it was. They got it into their tiny brains that having possession of the flag equalled power, so a fight began which resulted in a war that lasted many years.
It was intended to be a capture the flag game, with the winner being the faction which holds the flag at the end of the game. We got a little way into development before realising that the story didn't feel quite right.
With some guidance, we reinvented the game to be a resource collection based deathmatch. Thus Not On My Pizza was born, a game where you defeat and collect the food pieces dropped by your enemies and fire them from the world, akin to removing your least favourite toppings from a pizza.
The aim for the game stayed the same throughout development; bringing people together to play a fun game and give them a battlefield to fight about which food is the ultimate pizza topping.
