Description

Play as a drummer seeking revenge on a Metal Band of Eldritch Monsters in this whacky roguelite brawler. Fight through hordes of enemies with only your drumsticks to help you. Find corrupted music disks to grow strong enough to defeat each of the band members. Can you escape the corrupted hell scape once and for all?

History

Yellow Lab is an indie studio from Cape Town, South Africa.

We have extensive experience in the Games Development and adjacent industries as we've been partnered with to co-develop or port titles such as Twelve Minute, Memoir Blue, and TABS.

This project started when we approached our greater internal team to see if anyone was working on a project that they would like to put forward. What started out as Grave Days, a pixel art survival game, turned into a roguelite brawler about a drummer... Same thing, basically right?

Since June 2022 we've been developing what is now known as Metavoidal, but only in January of 2023 did we change trajectory and start making it into the version you see today. We've focused more on the metal & musical essence of the game, while also ensuring fluidity of combat and ease of play stays at the core of the game.

It's a far cry from the game we started off with, but now it is truly the reflection of the passion and creativity of the team behind it!

Yellow Lab Games is a South African indie game development studio situated in the heart of Cape Town. We're a team of 7 who are passionately working on our first game, called Metavoidal. The studio was born after a member of the team brought forward a game they were developing as a side project, which had gained a bit of attention, and we decided it's something worth pursuing and making a reality! The inspiration for the name 'Yellow Lab' came from the much loved member of our extended four-legged team, a golden haired Labrador called Charlie. We leaned even more towards the name because it translates into being a space of experimentation. Which, along with the same positive, wholesome and fun energy that Yellow Labs have, is what our team strives to imbue in our work. Although, Metavoidal might just have an extra pentagram or two...
