Medieval 2 Total War: Units Addon Mod v.1.8 Final

I.) Aim:
The mod was created to add some aditional units into the core gameplay of M2TW. This
mod is meant for M2Tw version 1.2. I have taken a lot of considerations and care to what
to tweak or not to tweak. My goal is to maintain the vanilla quality as much as possible so
the mod act more like a DLC with some minor adjustment. This version will be the definitive
final for this mod. I have rework this from the ground up for the second time. The 22 units
contain are smaller, but more concise. I think they fit well into expectation and the M2TW
narrative, some liberal liberty was taken.
In the course of doing this mod over the years, I have read a lot of the military history of
these factions during the middle ages. Within the mod, they are not presented accurately, but
that's a different kind of debate. Perhaps that's a different kind of game.
2.) How To Install:
1.) Back Up:
--Before you start, backup these two files, they will be overwritten:
A.) events.dat (C:\Your_Medieval2TW_Main_Folder\data\sounds\...)
B.) events.idx (C:\Your_Medieval2TW_Main_Folder\data\sounds\...)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
2.) File Structure:
--Inside the zip is a folder call "1_Medieval2TotalWar" Inside this folder
is a medieval2.cfg, a medieval2 shortcut and a folder call "data".
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
3.) What These Files Do:
--The medieval2.cfg contains the two lines:
[io]
file_first = true
--What this does is tell the game to look and use modify files on the hard disk outside the pak. This is necessary
to make the mod run.
3.) The medieval2.exe shortcut:
--This shortcut will not work for you, but serve as a reference for what you will need to do. Right click on your
original medieval2.exe and create a shortcut out of that to start the mod on your computer.
--So right click on your original medieval2.exe and choose create Shortcut.
--Now right click on your newly created shortcut and go to Properties.
--Locate "Target" line, it should tell you where your game is install, it should say something like:
(example)
C:\(Your_Medieval2TW_Main_Folder)\medieval2.exe
--You need to add the command @medieval2.cfg to the end of the target line so it will begin by reading
the IO command within the cfg file. You need to change the target line to this.
(example/Original target line:)
C:\(Your_Medieval2TW_Main_Folder)\medieval2.exe
(change it to:)
C:\(Your_Medieval2TW_Main_Folder)\medieval2.exe @medieval2.cfg
--Click applied and you are done. This shortcut will be use to start the mod.
--If for some reason, Window won't allow you to apply the change, you might need to enable User Account Control
or administrative privalege. If that still doesn't work, try using the provided shortcut and change the shortcut
to point to your medieval2.exe.
--If that still doesn't work, open up "folder #3 Alternate execute_to_start_mod." There is a .bat execute with explaination
on how to start mod using it.
--If that still doesn't work, then Window sucks turky ball hard.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
4.) Data Folder:
Drag and drop the entire contents inside the data folder into your data folder. Start the mod with your shortcut.
Play the game.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
5.) Removing The Mod:
--To remove the mod, simply replace the three files that you back up and delete the contents of this mod,
plus the shortcut. That's all.
the intimidation of the installation has doomed my initial interest
