Here is the story about how the style of karma characters came to be.
About 5 years ago I decided to take part in designer contest. A retail company held competition – we were supposed to create a print design for back panel of a tablet, and the winner of the contest was to receive iPad with proposed design.


Back then, everybody was raving about surfpads, and I decided I want to try and get one, even though I am generally rather skeptical towards this type of contests.
So, I sat down, took my pen and just added some teeth atop of black apple logo. Then I put in eyes, then a tail and some wings. It seemed amusing, so I decided to give it a go.


Rather quickly I had a whole herd of these creatures lying around – I’d sketch some random blot, threw in some eyes and tentacles and play around with that.


I didn’t win the main prize, but by that time it didn’t matter much, because I had my new creations to occupy my mind with.


In one of the next updates, I’ll tell you how exactly I got the idea for the animation series and a game based on these creatures .
