Iktsua is a mangling of the Inuit word "Iktsuarpok". This word is untranslatable into english but means something like: "The feeling of anticipation that leads you to go outside and check if anyone is coming". The reason we chose this as the name was because the game is based on a coming of age story, where an Inuit/Eskimo boy goes into the wilderness to become a man while his family anxiously waits for his return.

Hello everyone! I just wanted to ask for a little feedback so we can make Iktsua even better. With 30,000 views and 1000 downloads across all the sites it has been posted on, we want to take it to the next level!

Hello everyone! I just wanted to ask for a little feedback so we can make Iktsua even better!

We really think this game has crazy potential, and want to reach out to the community to know exactly what you would like. As you may know the game is currently in an open-alpha type state. It was created for a 64digits.com competition in one month. The current release is the game entered into the competition, and basically everything is still up to be changed. We would really like any feedback you have, especially on the following areas:

  • What features would you like to see? (Flying? icepicks? huge monsters? quests? doge? more environments?)
  • What would make the AI better?
  • Would you like more quests/interaction with the village? (Think ocarina of time)
  • Any thoughts on the texture styles, especially the hand drawn (cape) vs rendered (animals)? Do they work together?
  • Thoughts on color palette (too bland? too blue?)
  • Thoughts on character/creature models (too real? not real enough?)
  • Thoughts on including a husky that helps you?
  • General thoughts on rocks and environment
  • We are thinking of adding mountains, do you think this is a good idea?

Don't feel bothered to answer them all, but we would be pumped if you could just answer anyone you want/can! Thanks!
