Icarus is a 2D ambient platformer game for Windows featuring unique game mechanics, engaging atmosphere, and a living world. Take the role of a lowly beggar, Icarus, as he finds himself put in a position of great power and responsibility. Choices are made through gameplay, not cumbersome dialogue trees, and will ripple throughout your dynamic story. It's a retro quest with modern twists.

You can get a copy of Icarus right now at Icarus.jvscott.net! No DRM, no middle-man, just pay what it's worth to you and play when you want.

As if that weren't good enough, I will be personally donating half of all my profits to the Child's Play Charity. Play a brand new game and help sick children all over the world at the same time? Can't say no to that.

For those of you just joining us, in a nutshell Icarus is a 2D ambient platformer with a sleek retro aesthetic. The core innovation of the game has always been the method of making choices. Reactions to your character are based on your actions in-game, not an abstract and difficult dialogue tree. These choices drive a branching plot that results in several different endings. The result is that it feels more like playing a game and less like reading a book.

The soundtrack has been made entirely for this game by br1ght pr1mate and there are plans to make the high-quality OST available for download soon. He's done some really awesome work and has been a pleasure to work with.

Last, if anyone wants to check out the developer blog then it can be found at Blog.jvscott.net. For a large portion of Icarus's development I archived my thoughts and ideas there and I think it's definitely worth a look for that alone.

That's all for now but I'll keep you updated on any post-release developments.
