An accurate simulation of "The Hunger Games". You're a tribute, fighting intelligent AI in a "battle royal" to be the last person standing. Inspired by the novels by Suzanne Collins and the movies by Lionsgate Films. This is a turned based combat game in 1st person perspective, with Roguelike elements. The randomly generated arenas feature a central "Cornucopia" filled with melee and ranged weapons along with food and other gear, surrounded by wilderness in which one can hide or forage. You may form alliances with the other tributes, and backstab or be backstabbed by your allies. In the preview image (from a special "Audience" standpoint) you can see the semicircle of 24 tributes on their platforms, the central golden Cornucopia, gear in front of and within it, and surrounding landscape containing mountains and waterways. "May the odds be ever in your favor!" :)

Actually these orange squares are Net traps. In 3.1 you can set them by wielding a Net and using the "dig" command. There can also be a certain number of them preset in the arena from the beginning, such as seen here. That makes it so you can't just step anywhere when exploring. There can also be Wasp nests on the ground, or even active landmines. They're all orange, so in summary never step on an orange square because the result is always bad. :)

I noticed that there is a new "end of the arena" setting too, with just endless water as if you were on an island. Neat idea! Will there be a way to make the island bigger?

Yes, just play in a bigger arena, and the island will also be bigger. :) The island is about 80% the size of the arena, so a 4000x4000 arena will result in a continent sized island roughly 3200 units across.

Indeed, in the current version the background beyond the arena is always one of three color schemes: Greenish brown for forest, yellowish tan for desert, and grayish white for snow. Now it can also be bluish water, which will be selected for arenas surrounded by water such as this new island arena. It will also used for the existing Battle Royale arena (Shift+F2 and enter "B" to play it) which is surrounded by water as well. On a more technical level, the low level setting "L3" that makes the entire arena one big ocean is what selects the blue background.

So would the tribute AI also avoid net traps and wasps nests that are on the ground like how they avoid active landmines?

Yes, AI avoids all three hazards with a 90% success rate by default, i.e. only a 10% chance they'll fail to notice it. You can change this percentage with a command line: Press "Enter" and type "@STrap 20" (minus the quotes), and the fail percentage will be increased to 20%.

Description

Version 3.1 introduces a "tropical island" arena type, with sandy beaches and blue lagoons. However appearances can be deceiving, because the island is also infested with Mutts and preset Net traps in this instance that tributes should be careful to avoid.
