Highrisers is a pixel styled urban survival rpg. A single player experience full of exploring, scavenging, crafting, developing, researching, fighting and hoping for the next dawn.

Story

After the mysterious events of the last month, mankind has practically disappeared from the world. Instead, the mysterious dreamers now populate the desolated cities, where they dwell in the dimness of the urban canyons. A group of four survivors have met up by chance in the aftermath of the calamity, and they have taken refuge on the light-flooded spires of the cities skyscrapers.

Here, they desperately work on a way out of the city, ever dreading nightfall and what it might bring up from the lower levels of their building.

Game Mechanics

--Scavenge--

Without the comfort of a functioning society, cities start becoming a harsh and hostile environment very quickly. In order to survive and find a way out, the team must search every nook and cranny of the building, and scavenge everything they can get their hands on - including the kitchen sink. Furniture can be disassembled for building material, and each new floor might just contain what they are desperately looking for - but the lower they get, the more danger awaits.

--Crafting--

and a good amount of ingeniousness, the survivors can craft an arsenal to be reckoned with.

And it's not just weapons: barricades, workbenches, tools, machinery, medicine, food...

In order to survive, they need to make the best of what they have

--Research--

Before crafting comes research. Many of the more advanced inventions require certain skills. And while there is quite a lot of useful knowledge to acquire, the survivors don't have the time to learn everything. So they have to decide: Medicine or Mechanics? Construction or Chemistry? Electronics or Engineering? With the right combination, they might make it through another night. And if not... well, then they might wanna try somethin else next time.

--Defense--

The survivors will encounter the infected dreamers during their raids to the deeper levels, but as long as they don't venture too deep, they are relatively safe during the day. But after sunset, they will crawl up from the dimness of the lower floors, scrambling upstairs, trying to get the last survivors. Hopefully, the fortifications built during the day will hold...

--Teamwork--

Luckily, the survivors can pool their resources, their skills and their knowledge. If they work together and combine their abilities, they increase their chances of survival tremendously. The question is: Will it be enough?
