That's my favourite game from the series. Despite most players rate the third HMM much more, I will still stick my ten to this masterpiece.
Ah, this kind cartoon graphics! This amazing soundtrack! This is the genuine and decent successor to HMM: A Strategic Quest. Never wanted to go back when tried. Even despite the fact there is no balance between castles.
Although the map editor is much harder to be dealt with (comparing to HMM 3), it still makes me want to draw something. These bright tones help the player to believe he/she came to the world of wonders and magic, like a big fairy-tale you want to stay in for more and more.
Also, some campaign features were unique for the HMM 2 as well. For example, the opportunity of treason, or some constant bonuses awarded for chosen missions which escort you to the very end. Those could not be considered as bad developments at all, and I certainly missed them in the sequels.
