JOIN ME!
Last Saturday I did a hangout after I announced the card game version, to help walk people through how the game is played. Yes there is a rulebook included with the download but sometimes it's easier just to have someone walk you through it. (I do highly recommend you read the rulebook though!)

Last Saturday I had 3 people join me which I thought was great. I played through 2-3 duels with them and it went really well. So if you join me tonight and later this week (friday night) I'd love to play a few duels to help you understand how it works.

The card game version is 90% done, mostly just character art left to create. I've decided to bump up the quality a bit. It seemed lacking before. Hope you like the new style!

REVIEWS!
If you've visited the website you'll have seen these reviews before, but I wanted to post it here to try and help convince people of how awesome High Moon is.

I am not a gamer by any means. I don't like card dueling games or anything similar, because I'm not very good at them.

When I first played High Moon I found it confusing, there were a lot of things I didn't understand. But after the first few rounds, I started to get the hang of it! It was really fun and actually pretty simple to learn.

It was fun to challenge other people and figure out different strategies to use. I would and will play it again! And not just because the dude who made it is super hot...

I have to be honest; I generally don't like card games. High Moon was a BIG exception!

Thing is, whenever I look at options for a new game to learn & play, I always go for games with boards.
The reason is that I like feeling lost in a world, in artwork, in the universe created for the game. Card games just don't provide that immersive experience for me as well as board games.

So first of all, what I loved about High Moon was that the artwork was so compelling that I felt the same sensation of immersion had there been a board. Not only that, the gameplay proved to be addicting. You can be in a position of near-death, and then move your way up to even things out again with the proper strategy. But there is always an element of risk...I really enjoyed the curveballs that came from the enemies' special powers, or the calculated risk you take when employing your own special powers.

Over all a great game that I look forward to teaching my family & friends!

High Moon is that special breed of game that sounds cool when you hear it described to you, but turns out to be even more fun than you imagined it would be when you actually play it.

Learning the game is straightforward enough that less experienced gamers can pick it up and enjoy it, but it is strategic and nuanced enough that veteran gamers will still find it challenging.

This entertaining gameplay is tied together with delightful flavour, making it a gem in the Fantasy Cowboy genre!

Over the past few months I have been lucky enough to be able to play High Moon on multiple occasions.

I have played 1 vs 1 duels, 2 vs 2, and every man/woman for themselves. I have seen High Moon evolve, as it got more and more refined. As an avid board game and card game player I think it is safe to say that High Moon can stand with the best of them. High Moon seems like a simple game at first glance.

You use different elements to defeat your opponent and become the victor. There is a lot more to it than that though. The fact that you can use any of your elements in an offensive or defensive manner adds a new twist to the game. There are also powers that you can use that effect your elements in different ways. What seems like a simple game actually takes a lot of strategy. It's quick to pick up, but takes longer to master.

High Moon is an excellent card game that brings fresh ideas to the table. Adding this game to your collection is a must. I can see myself playing this game for years to come.

I saw the trailer for the High Moon mobile app a while ago, and I was stoked. When Stephen sent me his rulebook for the card game I was pretty skeptical. The game had a ton of potential on my phone, but I didn’t think it would flow too well as a table top. I play a lot of board and card games and I have a good idea of what I like and dislike in a game.

Certain I would be converted; he printed out the base set and brought it to my house to teach me his new game. I continued to be skeptical for the first few rounds of play. But as I began to see the simple-to-implement tactics of the game, and feel that every card I played (and how I played it) could turn the tides for or against me I started to really love the game.

We ended up playing for several hours.

High Moon is great for a number of tangible reasons. It’s easy to teach and learn. Like many great easy-to-learn games, it takes time to master all elements of the game (pun fully intended).

A round can go by very quickly, and no game goes too long. While it has the time frame of a filler game, it plays like a great strategy.Unlike many 2-4 player games, it is very well balanced for a 2 player match.

Having this game on your shelf is a must! It’s great to bolster your stash of games for two.

There you have it!

Now it's time for you to add your own review!

I missed the hangout but I went over the rulebook, seems pretty indepth and I'm liking where this is going. I was attracted to this project because A. the art (I love you by the way), and B. the promise of deep gameplay.

From what I've read it seems just what I imagined it to be, if not better. I look forward to testing the mechanics against another player though~

Thanks Kaz! There will be another hangout this saturday night if you wanna pop in and play a round with me!

I probably made it deeper than people are willing to get into it. There is a whole thing around custom character builds in the rulebook that I've yet to write about here on IndieDB.

This is from the website but I wanted to share it with you...seemed on topic!

There are 30 power cards, each have a unique effect that signifcantly effects your opportunities/strategies.

Each character uses 3 at a time (one Offense, Defense, and Special). Power cards allow for an extreme amount of character customization as you design your own "Power Sets" ( a set of 3 powers used by your character).

Just to help illustrate the amount of possibilities, a standard Power Set (1 defense, offense, special) has 1000 different combinations of cards. Advanced Power Sets (meaning you can have any Power Type configuration, such as 3 Defense Powers) has 21952 possible combinations.
