War has waged across the kingdom of Myrtana, orcish hordes invaded human territory and the king of the land needs a lot of ore to forge enough weapons for his army to stand against this threat. Whoever breaks the law in these darkest of times is sentenced to serve in the giant penal-colony of Khorinis, mining the so much needed ore.

One of da best ********** games
gothic 2 outshines it in every way, however the story and world is still very well crafted, gothic 1 is a flawed gem, with tons of bugs, but the good outweights the bad.
RPG first class
Great game, when played first time it's really hard, but doing missions is satysfying. NPC's, and of course Nameless hero's quotes are funny.
You can join to three fractions, each other is different and gives you other oppurtunities to build your hero.
Even today, GOTHIC is a great game. Not everyday you see a game than tell you the same story but with 3 perspectives. GOTHIC 2 is even better, but never exist a second part without the first. Is really a shame than this saga is not continue because legal issues and bulsh1t.
Defined the action rpg genre.
