This Mod changes the textures of Freelancer to improve the details. Also more depth was added to the textures and most of them have got a higher resolution. It was the goal to remove those blurred textures if you are close to a planet and keep the "vanilla-Freelancer-feeling". Textures for stations, the dockring, planets, nebula and some ships are included. Because it only changes the texture-files it runs on most of the vanilla-Freelancer-Servers and also in Singleplayer-Mode. You will need the Freelancer Mod Manager (FLMM 1.31) to use the mod. Could this be used in junction with a much like Discovery Freelancer? (or does it already contain something like this in the firstplace o.o been ages since I played classic freelancer)
Do you mean the Discovery Freelancer Mod?
No, the Discovery Mod contains his own mat-files for textures with some new stuff e.g. for their new models.
So the HD Textures 1.2 Addon can't be used in combination with the Discovery Mod because it would overwrite the needed textures in the mat files with "nothing". (The HD Textures are based on the original FL-files.)
The result can be an "invisible" shipmodel or crashes.

The admins don't give their permissions to use the Discovery Mod and HD Textures 1.2 at the same time.
But HD Textures is compatible to some optional mods like the HC-Mod. ;-)
Also it's included (soon) in some other mod projects like the Monkey Universe.
how to install a FL mod?
Does the HD pack affect client purity? i.e. can a client with the pack modded in still connect normally to a non-enabled server, or are the texture files checked against each other as well as the core game files?
@sasasa: You can install the mod with the Freelancer Mod Manager. (FLMM)
@klassen.t: The mod isn't an advantage or cheat. If you use this texturepack you can still connect to a normal "vanilla" Freelancer server. The server needn't the texturepack.
But watch out(!): Some servers also block texturefiles and mark you as a cheater. If you are not sure about this, just ask the admin if you can use this mod.

Hi dude! What about HW requirements? Those are not the same or am i wrong??? I have 1core CPU 2.8ghz and 2gb Ram.Is it enough?

Hi, I am a 5 year member and player of the Discovery Freelancer Mod. I would like to clear up a misunderstanding with something |~Radiant~| Seems to have in regard to this Graphics mod and the Discovery Freelancer mod. While he is correct in saying that the admins do not openly allow most any graphics mods for the reasons he's stated, This particular mod does in fact work with Discovery Freelancers Single Player and Multiplayer on their server.
When you download this mod, it will be in an FLMM format, you will have to retrieve the files from the FLMM file and manually copy and replace them in each of their respective folders. copy/replacing the files will result in a proper modification and will work with the game and server with no issues. However, simply REPLACING the entire file WILL result in issues and the Auto Cheat Banning your account.
