1. INTRODUCTION

1.1 WHAT IS PRAY YOUR PRAYERS? ---------------------------------------

Pray Your Prayers is a total conversion for the old badass game Duke
Nukem 3D. A total conversion is an addon patch which changes different
things in the game, such as weapons, levels and art. Total conversions
are usually made by a team with various tasks, and the most serious TC's
(such as this) are hosted by a official Duke Nukem site, such as
Dukeworld, Planetduke etc. Other known TC's are for instance Starship
Troopers, Platoon, Last Reaction/Water Bases and so on.

1.2 THE BACKGROUND STORY ---------------------------------------------

It has been a couple of years since the last time Duke had to kick
the asses of the alien race that threatened our Earth - and worse yet,
our women. Since then Duke decided to join the Earth Defense Forces as
a trainer for the young soldiers and, when in specific situations,
help them accomplish their missions to protect the fragile world we
live in. However, even if Duke hasn't had the practise of kicking alien
ass in quite some time, the veteran badass hasn't changed one bit.
Gyms, nightclubs and burger stores are a typical day in Duke's life.
Although the life is easy these days for the humans and nothing
bothers their hardly noticeable lives, a plan is taking shape in a
brain somewhere...Hidden far underground, the survivors of the one-
man army assault in the alien invasion a couple of years ago slowly
recover their strenghth and numbers. They have sworn revenge - On
the Earth, its citizens, its cities; and most of all, on their saviour,
Duke Nukem, agent of the Earth Defense Forces.
Secretly, a team of alien troops have established their own bases in
former military areas all over the world. Using the current technology,
as well as their own, the aliens have developed a new era of weapons -
all of them bound to destroy the pitiful creatures that beat them down
those years ago.
Two weeks ago it was brought to EDF's attention that several abandoned
military facilities throughout the world was put into use, and that
there was impossible to achieve contact with them. Agents were sent to
areas to report about these strange incidents, but no one ever returned.
Expecting the worst, EDF immediately contacted Duke and briefed him
about the situation at hand. Furious, Duke accepted the mission on one
condition: that no aliens would be left alive.
"This is the last time," said Duke, "the friggin' last time those aliens
are gonna piss me off."

1.3 THE MISSIONS ------------------------------------------------------

* EDF MILITARY AND GENETICAL RESEARCH TECHNOLOGY HQ
A breed of aliens have taken over EDF's former headquarters and
established their own base. The situation is critical - with the
technology and equipment at hand, who knows what the aliens might
develop. Our government relies on you to regain control of these
buildings.

* GENETICAL RESEARCH LAB CENTRE
EDF has traced the alien influence to this heavily guarded lab
complex formerly in operation by the government. It has been reported
about hazardous experiments with gene-technology within these
buildings.

* SNOW-WHITE MISSILE DEVELOPMENT AND SHIPMENT
EDF's agents reports states a Russian military missile project centre
that has been taken over by a brutal alien force. The state of the
art missiles produced here will be a major threat to our government.
The aliens produce the missiles in this facility and uses submarines
to transport them elsewhere.

* TECH AREA 74
Aliens are planning to transport stolen navigation circuitry for
nuclear missiles. EDF knows of one of their waypoints - Tech Area 74 in
Zone 50. Aliens will use underground tunnels to transport the convoy
to a unknown location outside Zone50.

* THE FACE OFF
Following the Zone 50 convoy, EDF has gained knowledge about the
aliens' leader - which is hiding somewhere in this city. The leader
must be assassinated for the sake of our country. This is a
strategical move which will surely prevent further alien attacks.
The aliens will however do everything that's in their power to stop
you, so you better prepare yourself.

2. TC FEATURES

2.1 THE EPISODE --------------------------------------------------------

The Pray Your Prayers total conversion features a 11 level mission based
episode. Divided these levels are in total 5 missions, 5 briefing maps and
one top secret level.

2.2 THE WEAPONS --------------------------------------------------------

The weapons are the highlight of the Pray Your Prayers total conversion.
With 9 totally new, original(as they are hand drawn) weapons, PYP has the
most unique arsenal available.
THE WEAPONRY:

1. THE MIGHTY BOOT
Nothing has changed with this. Duke still has the ability to kick alien ass.

2. THE HANDGUN
The new handgun is still Duke's favorite, the .45 SOCOM FD (Future Design).
The new version of the handgun is a bit more powerful than the old one.
Max ammo: 200 rounds. Ammo clip: 12 rounds.

3. THE RIOT SHOTGUN
Used by the mutated L.A. police squad, this shotgun is heavy and powerful.
However, ammo is more limited.
Max ammo: 24 shells. Ammo box: 6 shells.

4. THE SUPRESSED MP5
Fast and powerful, this is the weapon preferred by most. The MP5 rips all
foes to pieces quick. Effective against all enemies.
Max ammo: 200 rounds. Ammo clip: 50 rounds.

5. THE ALIEN PLASMA GENERATOR (A.P.G.)
Developed by the aliens, this big and heavy weapon fires plasma charges at
your enemies with the same brutal power of the RPG but with less explosive
range.
Max ammo: 40 charges. Ammo pack: 5 charges.

6. THE EXPLOSIVE RUBBERDUCK
The duck is the only species unknown to the aliens, and EDF's weapon
scientists used this to Duke's benefit. A rubberduck with C-4 strapped
around its neck? Bounce one against your enemies and watch them fly. FEAR
THE DUCK!!
Max ammo: 20 ducks. Ammo box: 6 ducks.

7. THE "MISSING IN ACTION" GUN (M.I.A. or "SCHRANKER")
The ultimate in combat strategy. This weapon makes one target disappear for
a short while, allowing Duke to set up traps, collect items, change weapons
or whatever he please. The downside about this weapon is that it blinds Duke
for a couple of seconds when it's used, making him open to attacks.
Max ammo: 10 charges. Ammo crystal: 1 charge.

8. THE PIECE OF MODERN TECHNOLOGY
This multiple-fire compact plasma generator is a piece of modern technology
at its finest. This weapon will annihalate every resistance within seconds,
leaving nothing behind but a bloody mess.
Max ammo: 100 charges. Ammo box: 15 charges.

9. THE MOTION-DETECTOR TRIPMINE
The ideal trap. Place one on a wall, and when anyone passes it, the motion
detector will trigger a concentrated explosion, destroying the creature
passing it. Including you, of course.

10. THE AMPUTATED SHAMBLER'S HAND
Who knows why and how someone managed to amputate the hand of a Shambler, but
who cares anyway as long as you get the benefit. Use the hand's electrical
powers to...Well, you have to see it for yourself. Be careful though...It may
have surprising results.

2.3 THE MUSIC ------------------------------------------------------------

Pray Your Prayers features not only new art, weapons, items and items; but new
music as well. These techno MIDI tunes spice up gameplay and makes the game
even more fun.

2.4 THE OTHER STUFF ------------------------------------------------------

Besides from the things already explained, there are plenty new features in Pray
Prayers for you to discover. Detect enemies with the Infra-Red Goggles!
New, kickass environmental sound and music effects!

3. CREDITS

3.1 WHO MADE THIS? -------------------------------------------------------

The Pray Your Prayers total conversion started out as a one man project - back
then there was only me, Shambler, who made the levels, sounds and artwork and
released the first version of the TC. The TC got popular very fast, hitting the
the top of the 10 most downloaded list on Dukeworld and staying on the list for
more than three weeks. The first release has today gotten over 5000 downloads.
I was fortunately later convinced to bring new members on the team to improve
the TC, making it much bigger and better. The TC has been in development in
about two years.

3.2 THE PYP TEAM ---------------------------------------------------------

These are the list of talented people who work on this total conversion as of yet:

- Daniel Ewald a.k.a. Shambler
The TC creator, maintainer and team leader. I mostly concentrate on levels
and weapons. All the weapon art in the TC was created by me, as well as
four levels (Duke, the Infiltrator; EDF Research Lab; Snow-white Missile
Facility; Desperado, briefing maps). I have a part in everything that has
to do with this TC. I found and defined most of the sounds and music, and I'm
the webmaster of the PYP site on Dukeworld.

- Arthur Nugmanov a.k.a. APTYP or Victim
Arthur joined the team right after the first release, and proved to be useful
with everything. He made most of the cool CON-effects (included the effects for
the Shambler's Hand and the MIA gun), he has made one level so far for the TC
(Adrenaline), he made the infra-red goggles, and much, much more. He updates
the PYP site when I haven't got the time.

- Jimmy 'Hiro' Parkwood; makes maps

- Rob a.k.a. Bomber; makes maps - Made the 'Faceoff' Boss level.

- Kiel a.k.a. HellsLance; CON-hacker - Made the original Tripbomb blast effect.

- Kevin Cools a.k.a. KefNukem; makes maps

4. INSTALLATION

4.1 REQUIREMENTS ---------------------------------------------------------

To play the Pray Your Prayers TC, you must have the following requirements:

- Duke Nukem 3D registered version 1.3 (note: the TC is NOT compatible with
1.4/1.5 versions of Duke. A patch will be released later)
- A 90 Mhz Pentium or higher
- At least 8 MB of RAM
- 15 MB hard drive space

Not much, is it?

4.2 HOW TO INSTALL *IMPORTANT!*--------------------------------------------

To install: After extracting the files from the PYP2000.exe, run the
INSTALL.bat file. This will backup all your other art, sound, map and CON-
files and make Pray Your Prayers ready to play.
NOTE: If you are an Atomic edition user, read this:
PYP is compatible with 1.4/1.5 users of Duke, but this version lacks some
features from these versions (like the Expander weapon). However, if you
are an 1.4/1.5 user and want to play, run the INST1415.bat file created when
you installed the TC. This is a 'patcher' that will make atomic edition Duke
to be compatible with Pray Your Prayers. It is important that you do not
delete any files from the installation, or this won't work.

NOTE: If you are a 1.3 user and accidentally patched the TC, run the INST13.bat
file created by the INST1415.bat, and the problem will be solved.

4.3 TROUBLESHOOTING -------------------------------------------------------
