Nuked Interpolation (for Eduke32 & Rednukem)
============================================
Did you ever listened to the original soundfiles from DN3D and wondered why they sound so screechy in Eduke32? Did you ever wanted to listen to these files in it's purest form with Eduke32? Hell, do you even love the way the World Tour Edition sounded in it's release days? Then this pack might be somthing for you!
This soundpack contains the original soundfiles (samplerates mostly lower then 11khz) from Duke Nukem 3D (Atomic Editon) in an upsampled form (44khz). Since Eduke32 does the sound interpolation in an somewhat 'direct' way (nearest interpolation), the result are screechy / shrill voices & other sounds. Even now (as of May 2024) it isn't possible to change the way the sound interpolation is handled in Eduke32, or I didn't find a way to do it. Ports like Raze, xDuke or BuildGDX handled the sound in a different way or at least let you choose how it is handled. For Eduke32 I've manually upsampled all sounds in a higher samplerate to reduce the artifact-like representation of this source port, so the engine does a more 'relaxing' sound interpolation.
The result might be unbearable for some, but desirable for others. In the past the World Tour Edition got critized at the beginning for it's muffled sound quality but it seems people didn't fully realize that it just outputs the sounds as they are stored in the game. Even the old DOS version isn't authentic as well but most people grewed up with it (me too). So if you are curious about how the game really sounds or just prefer a more authentic presentation, go ahead (make my day). You can skip this pack if you don't mind at all or already using another HQ soundpack, and that's completely fine.
