You're Dead! Here's Some Coin.
The value of in-game death...a quick tip for the indie dev community.
When a player dies in Dead Riot, we integrated the opportunity for the gamer to share their progress socially & comment. They can do so via Twitter or Facebook and if done, they receive 500 coins in their account to spend on gear, levels, etc.
So here's the point. The gamer gets rewarded for sharing, and the game gets branding exposure via the player's social time-lines. Here's an example via twitter @deadriotgame:
The player's stats at time of death are auto linked to the social post, and lead back to the ranking system for bragging rights, etc...along with ways for new potential players to access the game. Click for web link...
Combining these elements have helped drive more traffic, installs and brand exposure.
Here's the benefit to you: We're big on doing what we can to support the indie game community, and hopefully some of our posts are helpful to you as you create and launch your own games.
The big key with this post is that you have to implement the suggestions of course, but you also have to support the player and provide real value, in order to gain their trust to warrant a share.
Give a lot...to get a a lot.
Thanks for following and reading.
