The time is up; you can't stay there reading your smses forever. It's time to head out and find the answers. Cry of Fear is a singleplayer modification of Half-Life 1 which brings you the horror you've always been afraid of. It's a total conversion of Half-Life 1, which means it uses NO Half-Life 1 content or other peoples' files. It's all made exclusively by the developers. It also uses new gaming styles that you will rarely find in Half-Life mods, such as advanced cutscenes and other stuff that will be revealed at a later date.

Are you kidding? Sry, but Source is one of the best game engines out there and much better than GoldSrc!
The reason, why team Psykskallar is doing this for the HL1 engine is the fact, that they are more familiar with it + as E3Pointman already said, it's simply more easy to create something impressive for GoldSrc, while it needs more work on modern engines to create something great! One reason is, that the expectations of gamers are pitched higher, if you mod for modern games. If team Psykskallar would switch to the Source engine, they would automatically raise the bar and CoF would automatically require better graphics and more content to draw somebody from the woodwork!
But it's totally ignorant to say, that there are only interesting projects for HL1! Take a look at Nightmare House 2, Zeitgeist, Black Mesa or No More Room in Hell for example!
they are using goldsrc becuase the source engine is a s*** that causes bugs every time you click a parameter.
I can say abour source is that the SDK through steam **** itself with no reason, valve updates their stuff and your hammer stop to work, or the update of the code makes it incompilable, tutorials can not work with the diferent types of SDK base,(MP,SP,2007,2005), always you need steam open
Guys, both engines are great but Source is of course better than GoldSrc because it is the successor with enhanced features and graphics...
But please lets finally cut off this senseless discussion and talk about the screenshot here!
