Conquest of Elysium 3 is an old school fantasy strategy game. You explore your surroundings conquer locations that provides the resources you need. Resources needed vary much depending on what character you are, e.g. the high priestess need places where she can gather human sacrifices, the baron needs places where tax can be collected and where iron can be mined. These resources can then be used for magic rituals and troop recruitments. The main differentiator for this game is the amount of features and special abilities that can be used. The game can be played on Windows, Linux (x86 and raspberry pi) and Mac OSX (intel and powerpc).

I was thinking recently about how the necromancer thrives not in Fallen Empire where you might expect, but rather in Empire, where there are lots of cities and murderers around. I suspect this is thematic, and probably one of the reasons that Empire _turns_ _into_ Fallen Empire, because of the necromantic influence. Anyway, that got me thinking: which classes do best in which ages? I still have barely scratched the surface of the game, but I've noticed that : Enchanter does pretty well in the Dark Ages because of lots of animals to enslave. Any other observations? I'm wondering if we can tie them into a thematic narrative, something like "dwarves built cities which were taken over by humans. Druids were crushed out of existence. As the empire corrupted itself, gibbering mad things infiltrated the human cities," or whatever it turns out to be. -Max Edited by: wilsonmax |

Druids with their Animal Charm spells and forest sneak work better in early age I think I like Dwarf in later ages because their is a really good defensive strategy for them involving a castle right next to a mine. That way they can quickly shift all their population (except Dvala) to a better defense. Afterward they can return and remake the Dvala. Late ages make that castle/mine combo more likely |

trolls can work later on well too.... all ages have forests, and moving through well established troll forest regions is a nightmare... Edited by: chrisgregory91 |

A newbie question: when I start a new game in RANDOM society (age) how could I know WHICH age I play? There's no indicaton and no icons. I usually play on custom maps with maximum possible number of players (8) and I choose participating classes manually. So continuing the topic, I would transform the question like this: what is the best 8-set of classes for each Age? Edited by: -Rodor- |
