Installation:
1) Unzip to ...\Sid Meier's Civilization 4\Mods directory
2) From the main menu go to Advanced... Load Mod... and select FinMod
3) Enjoy! :)
Uninstallation:
1) Simply delete the ...\Mods\FinMod directory
Features:

- Installs as an independent mod, no original files are modified
- Support for patch 1.52 (but should work with any version)
Notes:
To change the flag you need to edit the following file:
...\FinMod\XML\Civ4ArtDefines_Civilization.xml
Open it in any text editor and locate the following line:
To change the flag replace string "flagdecal_finland_nationalflag.dds"
with one of the following:
1) "flagdecal_finland_stateflag.dds" for the state flag or
2) "flagdecal_finland_coatofarms.dds" for the coat of arms
If you have done it correctly the new flag should show up in the game.
ToDo:
- Add unique leader characteristics for Mannerheim (Kekkonen has unique
AI but it is somewhat untested, Mannerheim behaves like Bismarck)
- Add language support for other languages
- 3D leaderheads are going to be unlikely, but should be done (now uses
static pictures)
- Finnish voices/sounds are once again going to be unlikely, but should
be done too to make the mod complete (now uses the german soundset)
Troubleshooting:
If you are having problems with FinMod e.g. not loading properly the
following instructions might help:
1) Make sure the installation directory is correct. Do not
install the mod into
...\%username%\My Documents\My Games\Sid Meier's
Civilization 4\MODS
directory!
2) Clear the cache found in
...\%username%\Application Data\My Games\Sid Meier's
Civilization 4\cache
directory and try again
3) Install the mod into the
...\%username%\My Documents\My Games\Sid Meier's
Civilization 4\CustomAssets
directory instead (Note: omit the FinMod directory when
unzipping).
If problems persist, explain your problem in the FinMod thread at the
www.civfanatics.com forums. Maybe we can help.
Known problems:
- It has been reported that for some people the custom made flags are
showing up as white. Currently I'm not aware of any workarounds for
this particular problem. The following steps might or might not help:
1) Update the game
2) Update the graphics card drivers
3) Make sure the mod is installed properly

Final words:
This is my first civilization mod and I probably won't take this much
further than this. I'm very happy with the mod as it is. If you want
feel free to improve it. The Kekkonen AI might need some tweaking and
adding AI for Mannerheim is possible. Also adding some music and
sounds would improve the mod. Addition of 3D animated leaderheads is
very unlikely and so is the language support for other languages (a
finnish translation made by Kahkonen is available however, see
Koti.mbnet.fi). If someone wants to do the
translations I would appreciate that.
Leader traits and starting techs are of course debatable. I chose these
because I thought they would be fun to play with, not because they are
dead accurate/balanced/fair. If you want to change something about
those then by all means do so. :)
