How to customise the mod
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This is to help show you how to customise the mod to your own tastes. Want the Superweapons to power up
quickly? Want to only produce certain units? All will be explained, but first view the Jpeg 'What to
alter' as this quickly gives you an overview of what should be altered to get the desirable effect. Note
all the files that need to be altered are best opened with 'notepad' and all the files are located within
the 'INI' folder and the 'Object' folder (which is inside the INI folder).

8. How to alter weapon damage
9. How to alter unit stats
10. How to alter building stats
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1. What to do first >>>>>READ THIS FIRST<<<<<<
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1) It is expected that you are in the INI folder at the start of each tutorial. This is located in
C: ----> Program Files ----> EA Games ----> Command and Conquer Generals ----> Data (this is
presuming you instaled C&C to the default dircetory)
2) It is easiest if you open each file with 'Notepad' (ie double click one of the files and when it
asks which program to use scroll down and select 'Notepad')
3) If I ask you to 'search' for a word then it is expected you will click the 'Edit' tab and scroll
down to 'Find' and type in the word (obviously this is in 'Notepad')
4) It is expected you will backup any file you are going to alter prior to altering the file. NOTE DO
NOT PLACE BACKUP FILES IN THE 'INI' OR 'OBJECT' FOLDERS AS IT CAN SCREW UP THE GAME. IDEALLY
PLACE ANY BACKUPS IN 'My Documents'.
5) Quickly look at the picture 'What to alter'
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
2. How to reset the zoom to default
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1) Simply delete the file called 'GameData'
2) Alternatly if you wish to alter the camera open the file and do a 'search' for 'Camera' from here
you should find these lines:
CameraYaw = 0.0
CameraHeight = 232.0
MaxCameraHeight = 360.0
MinCameraHeight = 120.0
You can freely alter these lines to alter the height and angle of the camera. I would suggest you
do not alter any other lines in this file.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
3. How to remove the new multiplayer colours
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1) Simply delete the file called 'Multiplayer'
2) Alternatly if you wish to alter the Multiplayer colours open the file and you should find these
lines:
MultiplayerColor ColorBlack
RGBColor = R:20 G:20 B:20
RGBNightColor = R:15 G:15 B:15
TooltipName = Color:Black
End
You can either remove colours that you don't want by removing sections like the one above that
corespond to the colour you don't want. Note the section above is for the colour black. You can
also add new colours by copying the section above and pasting it at the end of the file. NOTE WHEN
DELETING OR ADDING COLOURS THE 'END' COMMENT MUST BE PRESENT WHEN ADDING OR REMOVED COMPLETELY WHEN
DELETING. IF YOU DO NOT DO THIS THE GAME WILL CRASH!
Note 'R' stands for Red, 'G' stands for Green and 'B' stands for Blue. White = R:255 G:255 B:255,
Black = R:1 G:1 B:1, Pure Green = R:0 G:255 B:0, Pure Red = R:255 G:0 B:0, Pure Blue = R:0 G:0 B:255,
and anything in between will produce varying colours.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
4. How to reset the single player colours to default
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1) Simply delete the file called 'PlayerTemplate'
2) Alternatly if you wish to alter the default single player colours open the file and scroll down and
you should find these lines:
PlayerTemplate FactionAmerica
Side = America
PlayableSide = Yes
StartMoney = 0
PreferredColor = R:100 G:100 B:100
IntrinsicSciences = SCIENCE_AMERICA
PurchaseScienceCommandSetRank1 = SCIENCE_AMERICA_CommandSetRank1
PurchaseScienceCommandSetRank3 = SCIENCE_AMERICA_CommandSetRank3
PurchaseScienceCommandSetRank8 = SCIENCE_AMERICA_CommandSetRank8
SpecialPowerShortcutCommandSet = SpecialPowerShortcutUSA
SpecialPowerShortcutWinName = GenPowersShortcutBarUS.wnd
SpecialPowerShortcutButtonCount = 5
DisplayName = INI:FactionAmerica
StartingBuilding = AmericaCommandCenter
StartingUnit0 = AmericaVehicleDozer
ScoreScreenImage = America_ScoreScreen
LoadScreenImage = SAFactionLogoPage_US
LoadScreenMusic = Load_USA
;HeadWaterMark = SCTempSelectPortrait ; don't use unless we add a "generalshead for non selected generals
FlagWaterMark = WatermarkUSA
EnabledImage = SSObserverUSA
BeaconName = MultiplayerBeacon
SideIconImage = GameinfoAMRCA
End
Only alter the R, G and B values (anything between 0 and 255) in the part that says 'PreferredColor'.
Note this is the section for America and is set currently as Grey. The same can be done for the
other factions.
Note 'R' stands for Red, 'G' stands for Green and 'B' stands for Blue. White = R:255 G:255 B:255,
Black = R:1 G:1 B:1, Pure Green = R:0 G:255 B:0, Pure Red = R:255 G:0 B:0, Pure Blue = R:0 G:0 B:255,
and anything in between will produce varying colours.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
5. How to change what each side can build
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1) Open the file called 'CommandSet'
2) You should find a large amount of lines similar to these:
; Dozer Command Sets ----------------------------------------------------------
CommandSet AmericaDozerCommandSet
1 = Command_ConstructAmericaPowerPlant
2 = Command_ConstructAmericaStrategyCenter
3 = Command_ConstructAmericaBarracks
4 = Command_ConstructAmericaSupplyDropZone
5 = Command_ConstructAmericaSupplyCenter
6 = Command_ConstructAmericaDetentionCamp
7 = Command_ConstructAmericaPatriotBattery
8 = Command_ConstructAmericaParticleCannonUplink
9 = Command_ConstructAmericaWarFactory
10 = Command_ConstructAmericaCommandCenter
11 = Command_ConstructAmericaAirfield
12 = Command_DisarmMinesAtPosition
End
3) Ok to explain what these lines mean. It should hopefuly be obvious but the second line states that
this is the 'American Dozer Command Set'
3) The next lines have a number folowed my a construction command for example:
1 = Command_ConstructAmericaPowerPlant
The number states where the button is located in the toolbar, like so:
+--+--+--+--+--+--+
|01|03|05|07|09|11|
+--+--+--+--+--+--+
|02|04|06|08|10|12|
+--+--+--+--+--+--+
So being number 1 the button will be located at the top left in the toolbar. The lines after that
state what is to be built and in this case it is the 'American Power Plant'
4) Now presume for some reason you don't want the 'American Dozer' to be able to build 'Power Plants'
then all you have to do is add a semi-colon ';' BEFORE the number like so:
; Dozer Command Sets ----------------------------------------------------------
CommandSet AmericaDozerCommandSet
; 1 = Command_ConstructAmericaPowerPlant
2 = Command_ConstructAmericaStrategyCenter
3 = Command_ConstructAmericaBarracks
4 = Command_ConstructAmericaSupplyDropZone
5 = Command_ConstructAmericaSupplyCenter
6 = Command_ConstructAmericaDetentionCamp
7 = Command_ConstructAmericaPatriotBattery
8 = Command_ConstructAmericaParticleCannonUplink
9 = Command_ConstructAmericaWarFactory
10 = Command_ConstructAmericaCommandCenter
11 = Command_ConstructAmericaAirfield
12 = Command_DisarmMinesAtPosition
End
If you add a ';' before each number of each unit/building you don't want then you will not be able
to build that unit/building. Alternatly if you remove a ';' before a number you will be able to
produce that unit
5) The new units/buildings are located in the following places:
CommandSet ChinaDozerCommandSet
CommandSet ChinaDozerCommandSet
CommandSet AmericaAirfieldCommandSet
CommandSet AmericaWarFactoryCommandSet
CommandSet AmericaStrategyCenterCommandSet
CommandSet ChinaBarracksCommandSet
CommandSet ChinaWarFactoryCommandSet
CommandSet ChinaPropagandaCenterCommandSet
CommandSet GLACommandCenterCommandSet
CommandSet GLAArmsDealerCommandSet
CommandSet GLABarracksCommandSet
CommandSet GLABlackMarketCommandSet
CommandSet GLAPalaceCommandSet
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
6. How to restore the promotion rank points to default
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1) Simply delete the file called 'Rank'
2) Alternatly if you wish to alter the amount of Rank points each time you are promoted open the file
and you should find these lines:
Rank 1
RankName = INI:RankLevel1
SkillPointsNeeded = 0
SciencesGranted = SCIENCE_Rank1
SciencePurchasePointsGranted = 1
End
Alter the number in the line that says 'SciencePurchasePointsGranted =' to as many Rank points you
want at each promotion. Obviously altering the points granted in 'Rank 1' will only effect the
amount of Rank points you get at the first rank.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
7. How to alter the superweapons powerup/reload times
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1) Open the file called 'CommandSet'
2) You should find a large amount of lines similar to these:
;-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
SpecialPower SuperweaponDaisyCutter
Enum = SPECIAL_DAISY_CUTTER
ReloadTime = 540000 ; in milliseconds
RequiredScience = SCIENCE_DaisyCutter
PublicTimer = No
SharedSyncedTimer = Yes
ViewObjectDuration = 30000 ; Lifetime of a Look done belonging to the firing player
ViewObjectRange = 250 ; And how far it can see
RadiusCursorRadius = 100
End
Alter the number in the line that says 'ReloadTime' to whichever number you want. note its in
milliseconds ie 1 second = 1000. The section above is as it says for the 'Daisy Cutter' you will
have to alter each weapon individualy. DO NOT DELETE ANY OF THE SECTIONS.
1 minute = 60000
2 minutes = 120000
3 minutes = 180000
4 minutes = 240000
5 minutes = 300000
6 minutes = 360000
7 minutes = 420000
8 minutes = 480000
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
8. How to alter weapon damage
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1) Open the file called 'CommandSet'
2) You should find a large amount of lines similar to these:
;------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Weapon MarauderTankGun
PrimaryDamage = 60.0
PrimaryDamageRadius = 5.0
ScatterRadiusVsInfantry = 10.0 ;When this weapon is used against infantry, it can randomly miss by as much as this distance.
AttackRange = 150.0
MinTargetPitch = -15 ; we may not target anything outside of this pitch range
MaxTargetPitch = 15 ; ditto
DamageType = ARMOR_PIERCING
DeathType = NORMAL
WeaponSpeed = 300 ; dist/sec
WeaponRecoil = 10
ProjectileObject = MarauderTankShell
FireFX = WeaponFX_GenericTankGunNoTracer
VeterancyFireFX = HEROIC WeaponFX_HeroicGenericTankGunNoTracer
ProjectileDetonationFX = WeaponFX_GenericTankShellDetonation
FireSound = MarauderTankWeapon
RadiusDamageAffects = ALLIES ENEMIES NEUTRALS
DelayBetweenShots = 2000 ; time between shots, msec
ClipSize = 0 ; how many shots in a Clip (0 == infinite)
ClipReloadTime = 0 ; how long to reload a Clip, msec
; note, these only apply to units that aren't the explicit target
; (ie, units that just happen to "get in the way"... projectiles
; always collide with the Designated Target, regardless of these flags
ProjectileCollidesWith = STRUCTURES WALLS
End
The first line ie 'Weapon MarauderTankGun' explains what the weapon is, in this case the weapon for
the Marauder Tank. To keep things simple I'll concentrate only on altering the damage and range of
the weapon, the rest is fairly obvious if you know what your doing and comlicated (more irritating)
to explain if you don't.
3) Concentrate on thes lines in the section above:
PrimaryDamage = 60.0
PrimaryDamageRadius = 5.0
AttackRange = 150.0
The first line is the damage inflicted per shot (in this case 60), the second is the blast radius
of the hit (if you set the value to 1 the hit will only hit the target. A value of about 50 will
hit the target and generaly everyone else in a large group. The attack range obviously is the
attack range of the weapon. Feel free to alter any of those values.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
9. How to alter unit stats
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1) First open the folder named 'Object'
2) Now open the file 'FactionUnit'
3) As this is complicated I will be explaining using a picture the example is the A10-Thunderbolt.
View the pictures:
FactionUnit 1
FactionUnit 2
FactionUnit 3
4) Hopefully the pictures should explain whats what. Generally stick to the easy stuff such as health,
cost etc
5) Don't delete any of the units in this file as its both unecessary and could create problems
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
10. How to alter building stats
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1) First open the folder named 'Object'
2) Now open the file 'FactionBuilding'
3) This is fairly similar to the 'FactionUnit' file just mimic the above instructions
