We'll be showing some images of our characters and explaining the choices behind their design, here they are:

The Midnight Man
This first one is called the "Midnight Man" or "Homem da Meia-Noite" in portuguese, he is inspired by a carnival tradition from the brazilian city of Olinda, in the state of Pernambuco. In Onlinda the Midnight Man is the one who marks the beginning of the carnivel, there once the clock hits midnight a giant doll of the Midnight Man leaves his house and goes to the street to mark the beginning of carnival, and once the carnival ends he goes back to his house, where he stays for another year.
The costume and face were made to be as fateful as possible to the original design and the watch is there to also represent how midnight is import to this character. He is a man of the night with a bohemian bon vivant personality. The umbrella is used as a weapon and is there to represent frevo, a traditional dance of Pernambuco and the brazilian northeast, and the little chick on his hat represents the "Late Night Rooster" or "Galo da Madrugada", another traditional carnival parade from Pernambuco (more specifically from Recife), here are a few images of the originals:

The Venetian:
The Venetian was inspired, as the name implies, by the traditional italian carnival of Venice. The idea was to try and capture the essence of the venetian carnival with all of its class and elegance, we tried to incorporate elements of the venetian carnival and of Italian Renaissanse to pass the image of someone who's elegant. The mask comes from the traditional venetian masks used in carnival, the cape and hat are both inspited by renaissanse era clothing, the hair color is made to pass the impression of elegance (since traditionally blue and purple are colors associated with nobility) and the fan used as a weapon and is also there to pass the image of a person with elegance and charm. Here a few images showing the inspiration:
