After a series of catastrophic events extinguish all candles in the land, a lone surviving candle sets out on a most important adventure to bring light back to the land.
This Candlelight trailer shows off most of the stuff in the game from wind, rain, water, lava, fireballs, TNT, torches, treasure chests, crumbling platforms, and moving platforms.
The game looks awesome, but you have to put more work in the logo and typography. ;)
Hey babeco, the logo and font are something that I was trying to keep simple but I think given the direction the game was gone art-wise I should go back and iterate on them a bit more. Thanks for the feedback.
Very nice! Really original concept! The art style is really nice, especially the animations. I'm not sure how I feel about the world art; it's almost feels like a diorama or miniature village; a little bit like a puppet show or something. It's interesting regardless.
I love all the little things that show why being a candle makes this different than a regular platformer (lighting the TNT, avoiding water, etc). It would be great to see even more; the candle slowly melts when close to lava, wind threatens to blow it out, pass your flame onto another candle, etc. I'm sure you are planning that kind of stuff already. Awesome work so far.
Hey mhughson, you are right on with the diorama comment. That was my intent. I want a toy-like feeling to the game. Something that is not very threatening, especially for kids.
You also nailed your gameplay comments. There are a few things I probably should have shown in the video. The wind does briefly put the candle flame out as well as push it back, to go onto the next level you must find the next candle and light it, lighting a torch, etc...
I think this is all pointing to me making another video! :-)
I do like your comment about the lava increasing the burn rate of the candle when you are near it! I'll seriously consider that.
Hey mhughson, I implemented the lava burning down the candle faster. It's very cool. Take a look at the screenshot I just added for the visuals.
Looks beautiful! Congrats!
