Bushido: Legend of the Samurai is a Multiplayer Melee Combat game set during during the turbulent feudal period of medieval Japan.
Some concept art created by Kieran for the new character customization screen. This screen will be running in real-time as a full 3D scene- allowing you (the player) to rotate around your Samurai inside the dojo!
MUST RESIST MUST WAIT.
XP? Oh god... Please, don't make Bushido one of those crap RPGs like World of Warcraft, but in first person. The detritus where a level 24 will always beat a level 19. Where it's just numbers on a screen, and you are completely severed from your avatar in-game, with only numbers flashing up on the screen to remind you this is not a bad movie. Unless you mean to be like Chivalry, where 'level' is only an indicator of playtime, with no actual function.
How do you intend to use 'XP' in game? What mechanics will it influence?
We'll have more explanation on the XP stuff soon. I know exactly the problem you refer to that people who play longer have bigger advantages, we want this to be a skill based mp game, that is not what we're doing. It will be tied purely to visual unlocks that have no effect over stats what-so-ever.
Oh, thank goodness.
Thanks for taking the time to reply. Also, how will the Honour system work? I really do like the sound of this. Does it work as an incentive for players to act more honourably, so decent players don't have to listen to the usual 'honour in a video game? get off the internet lol' crap that we must endure when we play Chivalry?
How does it work? How does it affect players and/or player actions? How do you earn it?
Sorry for the barrage of questions. Bushido interests me. I am excited, and I am thoroughly captivated.
Haha no problem! We really appreciate questions and feedback. Right now we're building the mechanics behind the honor system, so I can't talk much about it.
But just to give a quick idea, yes it will reward more honorable tactics! However, dishonor might play a role too.
We'll have many news posts in the coming weeks detailing these concepts and more! Be sure to keep an eye out.
