Black - Beta is running since 1 week. What changed?

Hello Everybody!


About a week ago I released Black - Deadly Mazes into the open Beta. Today I'd like to write about the changes I made during that time.

The biggest changes were definetly done to the menus. The buttons in the main menu were realigned. Also, new buttons were added for Achievements and Highscores, which both are new features.

New Main Menu

Next, the whole level selection menu was replaced. It now looks way cleaner and more beautiful. You can now unlock medals depending on the difficulty you play on. These medals will now be shown in the level selection menu after you've unlocked them. Additionaly, theres a leaderboards to compare with other players how many medals you have.

Another big change is visible when finishing a level. Not only is there a fancy new win explosion, no, the whole finish screen has been replaced too. The old textual buttons were replaces with icons, there area now a rate and a share button and you can see wich medals you just unlocked!

In addition to these (mostly) UI changes there were a lot of other changes and bugfixes. Here's a little list if you'd like to see all the other changes:

  • The virtual Joystick does now reset correctly after a level
  • The difficulty selection does indeed select a difficulty now
  • There are now Leaderboards and Achievements
  • New UI
  • The time display does no longer overflow
  • The player speed has been reduced
  • New fancy blue explosion on win
  • Performance Improvements
  • The android back button does work as intended now
  • Fixes smaller bugs.

What is left?

Thats actually a good question. While fixing some bugs these week I created a little list of things that I need to do until Black can be released. Here it is:

  • Overall balancing of levels some are just way too easy. Some way too hard.
  • Fixing all the bugs we find.
  • Unlockables. I want you to be able to unlock different players based on your medal count.

The first too points will possibly be the most of the work. And after all, this list might still change a little.

When will Black be released?

Another good question. I am targeting for a release in about 2 months in august. This way I have enough time to finish everything up and enjoy my vacation.

Can I still join the Beta?

Yes! of course! You can either use the free version and enjoy that the ads will be deactivated util the very end of the beta, or you can support me by getting the paid version right now. You decide!
