I have made a new navmesh for the 64 player map Songhua Stalemate to allow play with AI bots.
There is a PDF in the download with instructions for installation.
Note that this is not an exact copy of the original 64 player map.
There have been some changes to the static objects and flags:
Some of the flags have a bigger capture radius to make it easier for vehicles to capture them. A few of the flags have been moved onto roofs to stop the vehicles getting stuck on them.
I have added two extra flags to the map: North Front and South Perimeter. It is sort of original as they are listed in the original localization file: english.utxt
The reason for this is that with all the vehicles on the map and with the narrow roads everything was just one big traffic jam. No amount of navmesh fixes can make vehicles drive around each other in an orderly way.
By adding the extra flags all the vehicles get a bit more spread out, reducing some of the traffic jams.
The big problem area on this map are the roads heading down from the Chinese HQ control point. They work relatively well, but they are not perfect. If you want to use this level for your own mod then may I suggest you:
A) reduce the number of vehicles (especially APCs) at the Chinese HQ control point.
B) increase the flag capture time of all flags on the map. Each time a flag is captured or lost the vehicles end up driving up and down across the hill responding to the new order and never have enough time to get to the bottom. Increasing the capture time stops the AI constantly giving new orders every time a flag is captured or lost.
If you change the flag layout and start to experience random crashes try redoing your Strategic Areas. Specifically make sure the ‘order positions’ for both infantry and vehicles are in places where the navmesh exists and the soldiers and vehicles can reach them. Order positions that the AI cannot reach will crash the level.
Also included are the 3D object files (*.obj) used making the Navmesh. If you know how and wish to edit them further they are in the folder location:
songhua_stalemate\server.zip\GTSData\output
I used python 2.3.4 to create the Navmesh with BF2Editor.
I used Blender 3.3 to edit the Navmesh obj files.
Thank you, mate!
You are welcome!
