Battlefield 1942 Skinpack
by RussianComrade
Since there's been a bit of reskinning going on in BF42 lately I thought I might as well release my skinning works so you can mix & match the ones you like to give the BF1942 weapons a fresh new look.
Most of the skins are simple recolours, however I find them a nice change from the originals and hopefully you will too.
Reskinned Weapons:
BAR
Bazooka
Johnson LMG
K98
M1 Garand
MP18
MP40
No.4
Panzerschreck
Type 5
I've also removed the green tint from the metal of the sniper rifle scopes so it doesn't look out-of-place on the K98 and No4 skins.
Installation (for the game in general):
You'll need to use an RFA extractor like winRFA to extract your Texture_001.rfa file. Don't use the Texture.rfa file, because some of the skins won't be changed once you repack. Place the .dds files in the extracted folder, then repack the Texture_001.rfa file. Run the game and the skins should be showing up.
Installation (for a map-by-map basis):
Extract your map file and create a folder called 'Texture', place these skins in the folder, and repack the map. If the skins aren't showing up, open the init.con file for your map and somewhere near the top add the line:
textureManager.alternativePath bf1942/levels/LevelName/Texture
If you don't have an RFA extractor, you can use Battlecraft 42 to add the skins to your map file. While your map is open, go 'Tools -> Add File To Archive'. Press 'Add' and select the skins you want. Then in the 'Destination' box, type 'bf1942\levels\LevelName\Texture' and hit OK. Save the map, and the next time you run the map the skins should appear.
You're free to use these skins in any mod or map you make, but please be sure to credit me as the original author.
