Inspired by Aztec legend, Aztaka drops players into the middle of a war between mankind and the gods. Only Huitzilo, who is skilled in the arts of combat and magic, can save his people from the wrath of the Aztec deities.
Aztaka features richly detailed backdrops and fluid character animation, immersing players in a heroic quest to collect the seven Phonograms. Featuring 21 levels packed with mythological creatures, quests and puzzles, Aztaka provides a new universe for action-RPG fans to explore and discover.
Aztaka uses an innovative hybrid control scheme. The player moves Huitzilo around the screen with the keyboard, while casting spells and manipulating spiritual energy with the mouse. Spiritual energy, represented on-screen by globules of light, is central to the game's mechanics - by dragging and dropping it with the mouse, the player can solve puzzles, create routes to access new areas, heal injured characters, and more.
As the player in this lush, hand-painted RPG game, you encounter ancient, newly-awakened gods (both good and evil) in a battle and race to restore prosperity and hope for the people of the Aztec Empire.
Aztaka is an indie throwback to the good old side-scrolling action RPG genre. In this gorgeous hand-painted world, you play Huitzilo, heir of the Sun God, able to wield both the spear and the spell. The watchful Gods have returned to their slumber and the evil Ehecalk becoming ever stronger is plotting. A mad power struggle to hold the seven Ancient Phonograms will ensue. You are the last hope of your people! Race across your once great land, reunite the Phonograms and restore prosperity to the Aztec Empire!
Enjoy Aztaka and many other great games on Desura.

does this have controller support?
It's a fun and addicting game but drain system memory crazy. I had to reboot the game after every 2 hours because the game kept maxing out system memory over time.
Its all great, but this game seems to be really buggy. In example, in second city, that after swamp, there is old man that demands 20 vital energy pieces to give something in exchange. I give him 20 pieces and...this man simply disappears and no sign of quest in quest journal.

Anything new about the Linux version?
From their website:
"Linux version is on its way....
---------------------------------------
The linux version of Aztaka is pretty much done, but I'll need the help of one Linux guru to help me package the game for Debian and RedHat package manager and may be some more linux tester. Anyone interested in helping can drop me a line at devs(at)citeremis.com. Thanks!

They should not do "deb/rpm" packages, in my opinion. Just do a Mojosetup installer (or a "tar.gz" file) like all the other Linux devs do.
Quick question is there anyway to check the difficulty of a saved game? I don't remeber the difficulty I picked when creating a new game.
Also basically I can die as many times as I want each time I would just restart at the last save point with full hp right?
Looks great, instantly got that game on indiegamestand and cant wait to try
I hope come soon the linux version
