Welcome to week 4 of the Aftermath Developers Diary!

We've been quite busy over the past couple of weeks and because of this, neglected to upload a development diary last week. Our main focus has been on the survival mode and were pretty close to a fully playable map.

The weapon system is now complete so we can now add as many weapons as we want. Players can now swap between primary and secondary weapons and pick up new weapons from the ground.

We also re-created the hud from scratch, again. Below is the new hud with ammo counter at the left, then health and armor bars, money and grenades, primary and secondary weapon and at the right the wave counter for survival mode. Between waves this switches to a timer counting down to the next wave. Between waves players can buy new weapons, items and defenses, upgrade them and also plant there newly bought defenses. Players can skip to the next wave if they wish.

Next is the shop screen. Between waves a truck will drive onto the map offering weapons, defenses and items for sales as well as upgrading your current arsenal. Below is an early work in progress version of the shop screen showing the current items for sale.

As well as the hud and shop screen we've also added a couple of enemies. The charger, A non-humanoid alien that... well I think you can guess what it'll do when it gets close. Also the berserker, A knife wielding alien that'll run at you psychotically swinging its blades. We also added some basic sound effects for the aliens.

So heres of a list of things we've done on the game this week:

- Added a new hud
- Finished the weapon system
- Started the shop system
- Added a couple of enemies
- Added the wave system for survival mode
- Added some sound effects

Next week we plan on doing the following:

- Creating a functional shop system
- Implementing weapon upgrades
- Adding at least one of the defenses
- Adding armor
- At least 3 more enemies
- A fully playable basic survival mode

More updates next week.
