0 A.D. is a free, open-source, cross-platform real-time strategy (RTS) game of ancient warfare. It's a historically-based war/economy game that allows players to relive or rewrite the history of twelve ancient civilizations, from Iberia to Mauryan India, each depicted at their peak of economic growth and military prowess. Developed using Pyrogenesis, a ground-breaking new game engine custom-built to suit this project, 0 A.D. will give players a rich and entertaining real-time gaming experience.
This is a texture for a Roman Imperial Legion from the 2nd century AD. Imperial Legionnaires won't make an appearance in the game until Part 2, but it is always good to work ahead.
Very good looking!
It looks good. But I can see a difference in quality. Some parts are more detailed than others. For example his torso looks less detailed than his shield and head. The torso looks very basic.
But overall it looks good.
Well, his torso is just a bunch of metal rings. :) Not much to detail there. :) The shield looks more detailed because the shield mesh is larger that when the texture assumes. :)
Also note that most textures are more standardized than this and will not include many of the aspects shown in this particular example. Props, including heads, weapons, shields, helmets and miscellaneous distinctive items such as the scabbard will be attached using the Actor Editor as described in the recent ModDB news update. Unless features of the limbs are unique or non-symmetrical, the base texture has been modified to otimize space, duplicating the arm and leg texture for both arms and both legs.
Wow, looks great! Shame it's in PtII, though...
