Most games are unplayable. Thread

I downloaded the game Wolfenstein 3D (Mods).

Some games can be played straight from the downloaded zip file, such as Kurlandfront.

Because there is an .EXE file which can be accessed once unzipped.
Some games can't be played. Must use DOSBOX. When using DOSBOX, it's very slow.
I would like to know how games played on DOSBOX need to be adjusted in order to play smoothly.
