I'm making a better Stardew Valley. Give me some advice. Thread

I'm not a professional game developer. I decided that I might as well start at the top. I might as well try recreating what is probably the most successful indie game ever created by one guy -- Stardew Valley.

How do I make the game easily modable?

I want for it to be easy for the player community to mod it.
