Hello! Please try unchecking D3D8 Wrapper. If that causes the game to run in double speed, try checking DxWnd instead. Keep Locale Emulator checked. Like so: I.imgur.com
Let me know if that fixes the problem.
EDIT: With update 17.0_023, using a DX7 device may now give you better results than using DxWnd. To switch to DX7, go to whiteday.exe → Settings → Device and select a DX7 device. Wait for it to load, then click OK. ( Imgur.com )
Hi again, you need three things - the classroom master key, insect repellent, and the chemical solvent from the safe in the gym storage room. To open the safe you'll need to count up all of the different kinds of sports balls from the gym storage room and in the other classrooms. There are 4 different kinds of ball, and the number of each type corresponds to a number in the 4 digit code to unlock the safe.
If you need more help with the puzzles & other game content I recommend joining the White Day discord and asking there. ( Discord.gg )
The puzzles in White Day can be quite involved at times. Good luck!
i give up. it's a shame to think that i will die without playing the original version of it (since i REALLY want it). i wish the developers could release the original version with all bugs and compatibility issues fixed. well, r.i.p.
You'll need to get into the art room (4F). The key for the art room is on the back of a CD found in the music room (3F). Once you pick up the CD, you need to physically turn it around in your inventory, then hover over the item icon and click 'equip', which will take the key off.
If you haven't found the CD, it's in a CD player on the top of a shelf in the music room, which you can only get down using the remote control which is found in the faculty office (2F).
For some reason every time So-Young gets trapped by the tree ghost on the second floor of the first High School level, right after the cutscene plays the game always crashes. Even when I skip the cutscene it still crashes. Is there any patch for this issue? I didn't have this crash on version 16.3. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Hello! Unfortunately at present I don't know what causes that. I'd first try swapping from a DX8 device to a DX7 device, or vice versa (whiteday.exe → Settings → Device).
I'd also make sure you're not running in console mode (i.e., you're not clicking on the 'C' button to launch the game I.imgur.com). It's unlikely that you are, but you never know. Console mode is very buggy.
Another thing you could try is disabling the Detailed Shadows checkbox as you go to launch the game.
Lastly, since you said it was working in 16.3, you could try using DLLs from 16.3 and see if it still happens. Grab them here: Mega.nz , replace the files where white day is installed, and let me know the result. (You can get the 17.0 files back by just running the latest updater again: Moddb.com )
Also, if you don't mind, could you tell me your PC specs? It might help me recreate the problem.
I have a weird issue that might be important for my playthrough. Seems that only the player's face will have a custom texture. I've put custom skins on the two janitors, and while they shows up just fine in skinpreview.exe, the janitors still have default faces in the game itself.
Hello. I can confirm the same on my end. I'll look into it for the next build, sorry for the inconvenience. For now there is a workaround:
Create the folder 'data' in your main whiteday directory. Then inside that create 'puppet', and inside that, create 'char'. So now it should be "whiteday\data\puppet\char".
Now you can place the face textures for both janitors in "char". The naming convention & file format is different though. For the janitor in Main building 1 & 2, it has to be named "k2-su.jpg", and for the janitor in the New building, it's "su.jpg".
You can edit pretty much any asset in the game this way, providing you know the folder structure and file names for what you want to edit.
A few months later I've done some more tests for this (clean installs of the unmodified game on old PCs). As far as I can tell, it seems like this bug has always existed. I can see if it's fixable with scripts at some point but it will be fairly low priority.
For now I recommend people try what I said in my previous comment.
Is there a available cheat table in this game? I kept finding it for years now. Unfortunately, the link of the cheat table is expired. Can you provide a link for it? If yes, advance thank you!
There is "console mode" or "cheat mode", which is probably what you're looking for. You just click on the C button instead of the Launch button when you open the game: I.imgur.com
Then take a look at this wiki page to see what you can do: Whiteday.fandom.com - maybe this is what you meant by "cheat table"?
It's also in the whiteday directory itself: \whiteday\console\
Please note, console mode can be VERY buggy! The game can crash sometimes at random, so it's not viable to play through the whole game using it. It's great for messing around though.
Another thing - To enter commands into the console you will need to use a Korean keyboard, which you can add in Windows settings. It's a bit of a pain but with some understanding of the Korean alphabet (hangul), and this reference, you should manage: Images.squarespace-cdn.com
There is also "zombie mode", which makes you invincible, but it's separate from console mode. It's a glitch where you quicksave (key '5' in console mode) right after taking a fatal hit (while you're collapsing on the floor), then load that save. No hits register, and it's impossible to game over, but you can proceed through the game as normal.
I have a save file repository here which includes some zombie mode saves as well as saves that have all items: Mega.nz - you just put them in the saves folder, and rename them to 'wsav0.sav', 'wsav1.sav', etc. depending on what save slot you want the file to appear in. You can get to the saves folder with this button: I.imgur.com
The last thing I know is the various easter eggs and secrets you can abuse, which are detailed here: Whiteday.fandom.com
Again, it's also detailed in the whiteday directory: \whiteday\console\
Hey, you can find an original disc image of the game here: Blog.naver.com
This is an image of the version most commonly referred to as the 'jewel' version, which is white day version 1.16. It does not come with the bundled multiplayer game 'Oh! Jaemi'.
Note that 1.16 is not the most up to date official version of white day - the last version was released in Sonnori's 'romance package' in 2004 (a very rare anniversary collection of their games), which was version 1.18. However you can download the official 1.18 patch here - Mega.nz - which will effectively make it identical to the version found in the romance package.
The only remaining difference I am aware of is that the version displayed in the bottom left of the main menu screen when using the romance package is '1.18 패키지의 로망판' rather than '1.16', but this can be changed in Windows registry if you like.
So in summary, I would recommend mounting the 1.16 image, installing it with a Korean locale, then applying the 1.18 patch.
Versions earlier than 1.16 are very hard to find. Your best shot at that point would be to either scour the internet for it (I had no luck with this), or try and buy a used disc of white day (the original launch version), and have it shipped to you from Korea via a Korean shipping forwarder.
That said there are some official patch installers which contain files from earlier versions of white day, which may be of interest: Mega.nz
FYI, the version that 'White Day Repackaged' uses as a starting point is 1.18, plus the 'combo package' patch that adds Oh! Jaemi ( Mega.nz ).
Hello! Yes, if you played older English versions of this game, the puzzle was replaced by a much simpler puzzle. In this version, the original puzzle has been localised rather than replaced.
Here's an explanation of the puzzle:
Start by looking at the Chinese symbols on the chalkboard in the Student Department Office. You'll see that they're roughly laid out like: [symbol] - [symbol]. That 'line' between each of the symbols is telling you to subtract one symbol from the other.
At first that might not make sense. How do you subtract these symbols from each other? Well essentially you do it graphically -- you see which 'parts' of the symbol that the other doesn't have, and that's what you're left with.
After you subtract each pair of symbols from each other, you are left with four new, simpler symbols. These new symbols are Chinese numbers, which you can translate using the table drawn on the bottom right of the same chalkboard.
The four resulting numbers make the code you need to open the door to the Principal's Office. If you get really stuck the code is always 2841, if my memory serves me right.
Thank you. I wish I had this explanation when I was playing this years ago, before the puzzle got nerfed. That makes much more sense and makes it an actual puzzle again.
My only gripe I have for the game as it stands now is the janitor's pathfinding in the second area. He gets stuck on open doors too frequently, slowing down the progression of the game.
So I installed the game and got it running, but whether or not I used DX8 or 7 didn't matter, because having the D3D8 (I think it was called) made the textures freak out no matter what hardware I chose. Using DxWnd didn't help either, whenever I used either D3D8 or DxWnd the UI and menu vanished, so not only did choosing between those two not help at all, but choosing between Dx8 and Dx7 hardware didn't change the outcome on either of the DX hardware choices. Not to mention, using any of those still caused the UI to vanish and the Doorknob to float in the air, which I thought only happened when you turn the Locale Emulator off.
However, I found a fix, I turned both D3D8 and DxWnd off, left Locale Emulator on, and started the game. This not only fixed the texture issue, but it fixed the UI and other Locale Emulator issues. The problem is, this only works if you launch the game through the launcher rather than using Whiteday.exe itself, so anytime I open the game, it has to be through the launcher.
So here's my question, do you think you could look into whether or not the game is simply compatible with whatever system your using?
I'm actually using Windows 11, the newest version of Windows, yet using the tools meant to make the game run properly actually broke it, only by turning those tools off did the game finally work.
Thanks for the suggestion. I agree that there is value in investigating what breaks on what system. There are already some known factors which cause certain things to break, but I have not gained this information in any systematic kind of way, which seems to be more in line with what you're suggesting.
However, this is not as simple as it may seem. The game should not be natively compatible with any system that has a version of Windows later than Windows 7, nor any system that does not have a Korean locale. The fixes themselves may also each have their own compatibility issues.
It must be said that you are the first case I've ever heard of not needing the wrapper (or other substitute fix) on a Windows version past Windows 7. Since support for Direct X 8 was dropped in Windows 8, the game runs in double speed in all cases I've seen since that OS was released. The D3D8 wrapper is enabled by default because of this. Are you sure the game is not currently running in double speed as a result of disabling the wrapper?
Assuming that is the case, I am sorry that you didn't need it after all, and that is something I'd like to account for. I will be adjusting the information in the tooltips to help guide people through the fixes in a more intuitive way. I will also observe to see if there are any more users that report the same as you have.
You also mentioned using the D3D8 wrapper affected the floating doorknob / no UI issue, and this is also very unusual to me. I am confused how this would be possible as long as Locale Emulator is enabled and you are launching the game using wdlaunch.exe. Are you sure you had LE enabled and you were using wdlaunch.exe in order to play the game at the time this happened?
In case it wasn't clear, the intended use of this mod is to always run the game through wdlaunch.exe. It is not so much a 'toolkit' as it is a launcher that you must use to play the game. If you don't use it to launch the game most of the fixes will not be applied, and this is normal behaviour.
At the very least, I'm glad the game is working for you now. I hope this information is useful and thanks for your comment.
Si aún te interesa, hay una traducción al español en marcha. Ya están todas las imágenes y textos traducidos y solo falta editar las tipografías para poder poner tildes y tal, y hacer pruebas.
Technically there is a Korean locale emulator but that's just because the game was made to run on Korean computers, and is not the kind of emulator you probably mean.
I put this file into Virus Total because other versions of White Day contained a virus, and it said that 10 vendors flagged Locale Emulator as a virus, is this a false positive? Usually 1 or 2 isn't a problem, but 10 worried me.
Don't worry. I can assure you Locale Emulator isn't a virus. It's a popular project hosted on Github where full source code is visible: Github.com
Many other Asian games most likely come bundled with it. I can't attest to the VirusTotal result, but maybe anti-virus software sees that as suspicious and flags it.
I'm not sure why that could be. Rest assured though, there is no malicious code in any part of my mod. It must be a false positive. Some anti-viruses are overly cautious and flag unknown software as dangerous, even when they're not.
Hi, I am facing too much error problems while installing it like msvcp140.dll error and ucrtbase.dll etc. So, can u please tell me how to install it properly for not getting the errors.
Doing some research, it sounds like yer having Microsoft Visual C++ issues. Try to make sure everything is updated. I might be wrong, but it's worth a shot.
when I play the game, the textures are bugging out. can you please help? do i really need locale emulator?
Hello! Please try unchecking D3D8 Wrapper. If that causes the game to run in double speed, try checking DxWnd instead. Keep Locale Emulator checked. Like so: I.imgur.com
Let me know if that fixes the problem.

I keep trying to open wdlaunch, but it launches whiteday instead
Try holding down the SHIFT key while opening wdlaunch.exe.
EDIT: This was likely due to a bug where the auto launch feature can get accidentally turned on. Fixed in 17.0_023.
thank you so much man! you're the best!
The part were So Yung Han gets caught by the mutated plant is so annoying. Any ideas how to make it?

I sympathise with you! There's only so much I can do without source code sadly.
If you like, I can try and help you get it working. What problem are you running into?
Try unchecking d3d8 wrapper and check dxwnd and locale emulator from the launcher.
When I am trying to look for the huge baby, he isn't anywhere. I cant even play further than this. Is this unfinished, or am I just missing something?

i just got the new update, but when i try to run the game through the launcher, which is actually how i have to launch the game, it just says
The application was unable to start correctly (0xc0000005)
do you have any idea of how to fix this?
Issue was resolved in Discord help channel.
If anyone else has this issue, you can bypass the launcher by dragging 'whiteday.exe' into 'LEProc.exe'.
Where can I find the ORIGINAL version of the game? With all the bugs and Korean in it?

Damn... you answered me so nicely that now I feel obligated to play your version as well. I sincerely appreciate the effort you put into this comment.
No problem my friend ^^
There's so little info about this game so it's good to get it down somewhere.
I'd been dying to play this without having issues. Now I can share the game with my friends!
Did the code for the principal's office change? I don't understand the puzzle that is presented for it.

hello this is the original version? my second question is, do you have a version with Spanish subtitles?
Hi there 🙂 This is the original 2001 version of White Day. Unfortunately I'm not aware of any Spanish translation.

I'm not sure why that could be. Rest assured though, there is no malicious code in any part of my mod. It must be a false positive. Some anti-viruses are overly cautious and flag unknown software as dangerous, even when they're not.
Is there any way to stream this game on Twitch?
Nevermind, I figured it out.

Hey, rest assured there's no virus :)
Many many people are using this version of the game without issue.
Enjoy
