The Long Dark Save Editor lets you easily edit your game save. You can edit your inventory, skills, condition and much more.
New in 2.8.1:
- Load Rugged Sentinel files. The editor is not fully compatible with the newest version yet, but it should load the saves at least.
New in 2.8:
- Compatibility with story saves
- Add new items
- Updated all gear name translations
Thankyou so much! Your a star :)
There is one little issue i can see though. In my last save i was in a house and had put stuff in all the containers. After editing my save, it reset the house containers, and also moved my position in the house to near the door. Both saves have the same time stamp so it's not confusing 2 different saves, it's definitely the same one. Bit weird, but not an issue cause i'd backed up the save so can just go in and empty the containers, then edit the save. But i'm not sure if that would cause issues in certain locations so thought i better off mention it. No other locations seem to be reset btw. And all i changed was infinite carry weight and repaired all gear ;)
Are you sure you didn't use the save converter or change your location/region with the editor? Because the editor doesn't really touch the scene files, it can't really empty any containers. One previous issue was that the editor caused the game to load the containers, loot etc from a different scene that you're actually in for the first load, but that could be fixed by exiting and re-entering the building.
E: And did it happen with this version or a previous one? Because the issue I described is fixed now :)
I've just checked again and i was wrong, it is actually loading a slightly earlier save after i've edited it.
I don't know what the save converter is and i didn't change my region. I'll try leaving and entering the building again see if that sorts it ;)
Like i said, it's no biggy for me at this point, but i'm not sure what impact that would have if someone was stood in the old womans house.
Ahhh yes, leaving and re-entering the house sorted it! :D Thankyou so much!
It seems it also just didn't want to load the save that i did by passing time, instead it loaded up the one as i entered the house 45 mins earlier. Weird, but no biggy!
You're a star!
Edit: It happened with this version.
There seems to exists 2 files for 1 story, "story" and "checkpoint", that's probably the reason for the weirdness. I haven't figured out the purpose of the checkpoint file yet, but the editor edits the story file.
Ahh i see.
Yeh i'd wondered what the point of those was considering it doesn't give you any option of which save to load lol.
Anyway, all sorted now so thanks again! You could give Hinterland a run for their money on update speed :D

Hello Sir ! I have a suggestion to the "Save Editor", is that with you i need to send it ?
Probably is easy to create, it's just a option to "ERASE REGION".
You remember before Faithfull cartographer update the savegame structure? I was a compacted file with a lot of files inside it, then all i did was for example DELETE "MYSTERY LAKE" file, then all outdoor of mysterylake was ERASED, DELETED and became a entirelly new place to explore, just like before i enter it the first time.
It was very, very usefull in my old Interloper save with almost 500 days and almost nothing more to do... Was a incentive to keep playing..
What you Think sir ?
Thanks, and sorry about my bad english :p
I'll add it when I have time.

Hey dude,
Thanks for your fast response on the other page, I noticed that you had to repeat the same thing to almost everyone (try the new editor!) but unfortunately I must say that I still can't the editor to run. Whenever I try to run the editor it just won't run and I get a crash log. It seems that lots of other people are able to getting it to work so I don't know why I'm having this problem and I'd appreciate your help dude.
Thanks in advance! :)
Can you send me the crashlog content? On Discord preferably.
when i edit some skill and you're inside a building, everything there go aways lol, and the room became like before with all funrniture etc. like you never was tehre
im talking about Save Editor 2.8 v 1.05

I had left all of my things on the floor of the house I was before trying the save editor on my brother's recommendation to deal with carry weight. After using the save editor for infinite carry weight only, the house where I was reseted to its original untouched state and I lost EVERYTHING I HAD that was on the floor. All of my belongings in the long dark except what little I had on me before using the save editor is now gone.
Is there a way to go back to what it used to be?
Leave the house then re-enter
As a new player who constantly gets lost the map this save editor offers is of critical importance. But the thing is that at times I am unable to get the editor to show the map(''No map found for current region.''). Is anyone else getting this? I mean, I've tried using the map provided by the game, but without a compass I just have no idea which direction I'm facing..
The game uses Whiteberry's maps so there's not a map for every location. The map also won't work if you're inside a building.
you are the best person ever everywhere
Thanks! :)
Omg the game updates again today, haiz!!!!!!!!!!! 1.07 (32337)

So i've edited arrows in on one of my runs , cause they mysteriously despawned 7 of them. But before hand i spawned in items that weren't supposed to be in Interloper but Story mode , just to test if everything worked properly and now my game is acting weird. Bears/wolves are neon green in the dark and i have the Aurora effect during nights.

Maybe you changed your difficulty to story mode?

I've downloaded and extracted the proper and current file, and when I try to run the .exe, nothing happens. Doesn't matter what folder I download it to, whether or not I run as administrator or not. Nothing, nada. Did I miss some instructions or is it just not supposed to work?
Try running the .exe straight from the Winrar/7zip folder, i.e. don't extract it. For some reason, this happens on quite a few executable files. Either extract everything to one location, which should also solve the problem, or run it from within the non-extracted download.

When I choose the "Never Die" option, my condition still goes down. Just fought a wolf and it went down to 75. Is it still working, or is it scripted to not allow condition to reach zero but everything above zero is still applicable?
I don't really want to test it out on this save, but I might start another one and see what happens if I let it go down fully.
Never dies just means you never die, invulnerable should stop condition loss.
Thank you. So even if condition drops to zero, you won't die? Okay.
Invulnerable stops the contraction of afflictions and condition drop, right?
Thanks for the reply.
Is it possible to separate the Profile and Player file editing?
Since they have their own file in the hinterland save folder ("user001" for the traits and "ep1sandbox1, ep1sandbox2, etc." for player saves).
This solve the problem with the can't skip the intro logo (like when player open the game for first time) every time you edit the player file even without touching the traits in profile tab.
Probably something like "Save Profile/Traits" while in Profile tab,
"Save Player/Game" on Player and the rest of the tabs.
Or maybe something cleaner like the file select dropdown menu now have "user001" part of that menu, and only shows Profile tab, while other save files show Player, Map, etc tabs.

guys after i relocate myself using the save editor i cant enter any building anymore. When i enter a building it keep teleport me to underground and make me fall. Anyone know how to resolve this pls.
Yes. Do not teleport to another location/zone.. Teleport only in the current location. Like teleporting from Mistery Lake, to Furlong Muskeg. Also do not teleport if you are inside a building/to a building.
I follow these rules and never had problem with the save editor. Hope helpped.
