The Sun Will Go Out is a combination of space exploration and shoot-em-up with a shop/upgrade system.
Installation
1. Download the file ‘thesunwillgoout_beta_linux.zip’ from the link above.
2. Extract the file anywhere you want.
3. Install the packages ‘libopenal1′, ‘libsdl-mixer1.2′, ‘mono-complete’ and ‘libsdl1.2debian’.
You can install them from a package manager. If you are using apt-get, this can be done by opening a terminal and typing:
sudo apt-get install libopenal1 libsdl-mixer1.2 mono-complete libsdl1.2debian
4. If you haven’t got a terminal open already, open one now and navigate to the folder where you extracted the game’s zip file.
5. Run the game by typing ‘mono tswgo.exe’.
6. Enjoy the game! ..but if you encountered any issues, please contact us either on our email or write a line in our support forum.
Background
You arrive as an inexperienced pilot in a troubled solar system where resources are running out and piracy is growing stronger. You are there to help, in what way you can. At the same time, a conflict is developing between the fractions the Alliance and the Rebels. Which side are you on?
During your travels, you embark on missions and encounters hostile ships. The encounters takes place in a Space Invaders-like vertical shooter. You interact with locals and gain money and ship parts which you can use to upgrade your ship.
This version of The Sun Will Go Out is a quite complete beta version. Currently, we are gathering feedback and are aiming at finalizing the game June this year.
Basic navigation
Menues:
- Arrows to navigate
- Enter to confirm
- Escape to go back
In open space:
- Arrows to navigate
- Enter or Control to interact with objects
Shooter:
- Arrows to navigate
- Press and hold Control to fire
- Press shift to toggle between weapons
In open space and shooter the available menues can be accessed through pressing Escape.
