Just my opinion but DayZCommander is much better for finding servers, can automatically download updates and even has a friend system.
This combined with Steam does the same, lol.
I launch six launcher and window pops up and cant close and play, how do i add all the paths and such?

Get play.withsix.com instead. The "official" DayZ launcher.
should i try arma 2 before playing dayz? only got arma 2 for dayz :D

Yea my DayZ on steam stopped working right when I wanted to play it. :/
