What don't you like in particular? The moving speed, headbob or what? You gotta be a bit more specific.

Well first thanks for making the effort for this pack but i have some complains.

Replacing the PRZ2.1 shaders with Autumn Aurora 2 was not a good decision IMO. Starter pack should feel vanilla and if i want an autumn feel i install AA2.

Now i found that the parallax mapping is broken in the shaders. Here's some images of the problem, also wtf is grown with the players hands?

So i finally found a solution for my problem.

Since i don't like AA2 shaders at all i downloaded the PRZ2.1 and installed the optional shaders but gave me the pixel shader 1.1 error. Fortunately i found a fix in the own mod comments:

Go to game directory then gamedata\shaders\r2\SkyGraphics_options.cfg

find line:

#define USE_SOFT_WATER // Enable/Disable the use of soft water edges

edit to:

// #define USE_SOFT_WATER // Enable/Disable the use of soft water edges

That way you can play without the pixel shader crash. Also the parallax looks way better, the marked one doesn't have rotten hands and overall the game looks more clear.

Yeah, I was quite aware of that issue with PRZ shaders and also I encountered that crash. I completely understand the idea of keeping it vanilla, but from the looks of it. Most STALKER ShaderMAX builds have that issue, so I made the decision to go with AA2.1 shaders. I mean if someone doesn't like it, you're free to configure the pack yourself and removing the shaders is easy, just delete the "shaders" folder and it's bog standard vanilla STALKER ones.

Maybe I could've added that you can remove them easily, or hell maybe I could've made a pack with STALKER ShadersMAX, but by that logic... I'd be making so many different configs of the pack it would just be too much.

In any case thanks for your effort in finding the solution to the problem, I'm sure plenty of people will find it useful.

PS That hand texture issue is not something I've encountered, but I also just noticed that I'm running a much narrower FOV than you, so I guess that just slipped through the cracks. I'll look into it.

You mean the headbob? You can remove the headbob by opening the console with ~ key and typing cam_inert 0.

Hey. I just installed the repack version of the starter pack but something seems odd. First of all, the shaders look nothing like autumn aurora's. There aren't even Depth of Field effects which are very noticeable. Also the parallax mapping on the textures looks very much like what is in this album: Imgur.com

One more thing: It's a bad idea to make the user replace their fsgame.ltx file. The shoc folder location of my saves wasn't on the location stated on the new .ltx file, so my saves didn't show up. It's better just to make another extra step to modify the .ltx file manually as supposed to replacing it.

nerrmind previous question...

On how to change the FOV?
I see ur supposed to enter "1-58", not sure what to make of this, sorry, new to all this, this is my first PC, EVER. I like playing at 100 (horizontal) FOV. From what I understand there are ONLY presets we can choose from, correct?
I'm playing Shadows of Chernobyl (v1.0006) so I assume (I know what they say about assuming) I enter "20" to get a horizontal FOV of 90, is this correct? ...or do I enter "16" to get a Vertical FOV of 67.50 (which is close to 99 horizontal FOV)?
Is there any (simple) way of getting 100 FOV (if the max horizontal FOV is 90)? or is this done for a reason, like it would mess with certain graphics if the FOV was tweaked any more?

Okay, I'd like to increase carry weight but accessing the modifier.exe and clicking on "Carry Weight" I get a message about "config/creature/actor.ltx" and "config/system.ltx" not existing. I see there are preconfigured files (system & actor.ltx) in another folder. I don't know much about this stuff but I assume one has to copy the file over to the appropriate directory/location. However, there are 4 "system" files and 2 "actor" files to choose from ("...alt1" and "...original"), I read in a txt file that the "actor.alt1" file changes many things and I'm not sure if the character is currently modded in any way (after installing this started pack with no other mods or changes from start of game) compared to pure vanilla SoC. I ONLY want to change the carry weight and nothing more. Not sure how to go about this and any help would be appreciated. Any advice?

Okay, never mind. I didn't see the actual "install actor.xtl" option in the drop box of the modifier. It all makes sense now.

Wow the stuff you can learn by reading, huh, who woulda' thunk it.

Okay, so let's see if I don't make an *** out of myself this time...

So I started playing straight from install, made no changes whatsoever (except for difficulty settings), no other mods, just installed SoC then the installed Starter Pack and started playing. I played for about 2 day's then decided to make a few changes using the Modifier.exe. The ONLY thing I changed was 'reduced head bob' option and changed carry weight from 50, 60, 50, to 150, 200, 150. My laptop wasn't made for gaming yet it's been faithful to me in many titles I would have thought impossible to play, albeit at minimum or low game settings. Before I made the changes the game ran without any stutter whatsoever, now after the changes the game freezes for about 3-5 seconds every 10-15 minutes, not bad considering other stories I've heard but still pretty annoying. It seems to happen because it's loading a new area I'm going/running into because once I'm in the area killing foes or messing around (not going further into the map just staying close to one area) it runs fines. This whole time (even before the changes) I've only ever been in Cardon and (mostly) Agroprom, so it's not that my laptop just didn't 'reach an area that it couldn't finally handle'. I'm already playing on the "minimum" quality setting and I've tried typing "-noprefetch" in the command console but gives me a message of "unknown command". Is there a reason it doesn't recognize that command? Any other fixes for this problem?

What gun retexture is in this mod? I'm currently using Stalker Complete 2009, and I like that mod a little better than this one, but I like the way this mod changes the guns.

Same here. The "Complete" mod has janky looking and sounding weapons but this mod has weapons you can feel the heft to when you fire them, plus they don't look like they were drawn on a PC's generic paint app. In my very limited knowledge I thought I could just copy/paste the weapon textures folder into Complete but quickly realized there are just way more files and weapons used in complete that this mod just doesn't have. Plus there's the issue of making sure the file names of weapons in the config (?) folder are correct... too much for my limited knowledge.
That AND one thing I LOVED in this mod that I don't see in other mods (I've tried) including "Complete" (SoC and CS, so far) is the tracers, the way you can see when looking in a scope how the bullet drops when in flight. I've seen other games mods that try to replicate that effect but when the game uses hit scaning and it's mostly just for visual flare, and even in Stalker there is talk of bullet drop but honestly ever time I shoot using a scope it seems like hit scan because it happens instantly at any distance and aside from spread I don't see any "drop", again, at ANY distance. This mod you can see the bullet drop AND it's not just in there for visual flare, it really IS the bullet that you see drop. FANTASTIC! I wish that component was a mod in itself so I could used in other Stalker mods.
