Pretty much the stock sides, but with a few annoying issues fixed.
It's great seeing remastered maps and sides for the classic Battlefront 2, but I've always preferred the stock look and feel. Unfortunately, the default sides aren't perfect. After learning how to use the mod tools, I was able to fix the following issues:
- Super Battle Droid no longer explodes into regular droid chunks
- Award wrist blaster now has a HUD icon
- Rebel vanguard (Hoth) now uses the proper high-res texture
- Fett jetpack effect now appears in the correct spot
- Yellow grenades (wookiees) no longer cast red light
- Restored EMP explosion effect from SWBF1
- Removed ugly 'cracked ground' texture from Windu's jump attack
- Removed Imperial/Republic capital ship dome models, as they tend to flicker
As far as I know, that's all that can be fixed without making major changes which would be outside the scope of this project. Feel free to let me know if I've missed anything. Previous versions of this mod restored Aayla's purple saber, to match the cinematics, but now I see that it's futile trying to recreate pre-release versions of the game :(
Fixed the following in version 2 and above:
- Droid Tri-fighter now uses proper bump texture
- Restored missing flame/spark damage for ships
- Gungans now use blue/EMP grenades
- Reduced detpack explosion shake from 2.0 to 1.0
- Fixed the weird Jet Trooper FOV change when sprinting
- Fixed the awful Dooku texture (thanks to AQT and ARC_Commander)
- Restored CIS sprinting animations from the old Xbox demo (thanks to DylanRocket and SleepKiller)
I have really enjoyed this mod.
Simple but nice! Not sure if that is something that would fit in the mod, but what do you think about adding a bit of glow to Stormtrooper and Imperial Shock Trooper's armours? I think it would make sense since the protagonist of the campaign mentions that they were "armed with shiny new armour" when they became Stormtroopers (and personally, I liked that effect in the Unofficial 1.2 Patch).
actually, it's funny you mention that. a guy called sleepkiller developed a set of entirely new shaders and one of the features is more realistic lighting/bloom, which affects stormtroopers and clones. I believe the option is called 'disable brightness rescaling' or something like that. you can grab the latest build here: Github.com
Oh, I see! That's cool! :)
or even better (even though this would be asking for much) if the MagnaGuards could be replaced with Tactical Droids to make their loadout more acceptable. Just got into BF2 mods and they're amazing! They give me a reason to play more than just BF1 lol
would be cool if you'd fix clockedanakin's skirt which is missing there
Could you add the following fixes?
-Magnaguards using regular droid chunks
-Count Dooku textures
-Anakin (The hooded variant) textures
-Jango Fett pistol (he should use a Westar-34 Blaster)
-Magnaguards capes (According with the Battlefront Wiki they use them only in the campaign)
Very cool mod by the way, one of my favourites
I second a lot of these especially the cape thing, always bothered me how barren they look without them
Could we see the regular Clone Troopers with EMP Grenades like the Gungans instead of Thermal Detonators? It'd make it more like classic Battlefront and I think it'd be pretty cool to have.
I sat on a lot of ideas so i'll just toss some of them out:
The Radiation Launcher in classic battlefront made the EMP Explosion sound when the projectile hit anything, that'd be cool to see come back
The above mentioned Clone Trooper EMP grenades would be awesome considering those kinda have been forgotten in mods despite them being the perfect fit for the Republic
Some of the above things like fixing Count Dooku's blurry face and giant chest seam, adding capes to the magnaguards, fixing the fact anakin's cloaked outfit from Knightfall is missing the actual skirt part
Maybe if possible fixing the Clone Commander not switching to the Arc Trooper model when playing on Geonosis
Old Ben maybe? He has voicelines and everything but this is less side mod territory
Possibly General Grievous cape?
Lastly, in the campaign cinematics during GCW there are a few times an unused Officer skin shows up, it could be interesting to see that be implemented in some capacity.
Love the mod and I really hope that it goes forward far enough to make the stock sides a good contender against remaster even if it's not as polished or flashy
Hello! I may implement the radiation launcher sound, improved Dooku and possibly the officer texture (if I can find it), but I'll probably make them optional. Sadly, changing the clone commander model would require scripting which might break multiplayer. Although I don't dislike the other suggested changes, they're not exactly bug fixes imo. The Grevious cape and Magnaguard chunks, for example, would require assets not found in the mod tools or the game itself. And Anakin's skirt-thing is a weird one; even after 'fixing' it, it still refuses to appear. That one really bothered me lol.
Hey! It's good to see you again and I'm glad you're still doing this, very unsung hero style work, started up a separate install with the xbox dlc and your mods. The response on some of them is perfectly understandable, though the mod does market itself as Bugfixes and Improvements. Ultimately the choice to include or not include them is up to you, but i'm happy to hear about the Dooku fix.
Unrelated to this mod, but is it possible to bring back the movie clips for the campaign? They used to be in the disc copies but they're not in the steam copies for whatever reason and I really miss them.
I appreciate you makin mods man its like a momma bird giving her babies food
What about replacing the AT-TE rear machine gun with the BF1 rear gun? tbh, there's so many questionable decisions in BF2
Could you do a version with the capital ship dome models restored?

Hello! I really love your sides, there was just one or two things I was wanting to add myslef (boba/jango fett guns, magna guard chunks, etc.) would you have the assets/source code so I could add those in?
does this work online?
How did you implement the EMP effect? I'm trying to do something similar but am not getting the same effect. Are all the names the same as BF1?
