Slaver's HD Warcraft Mod Using HD textures and models, I was able to update the game's graphics from pulling from many great Warcraft 3 modifications. Never has there been one true HD mod for the game, but utilizing the ground textures from later games in the Warcraft series that I own and the models of my fellows from the Hiveworkshop, I managed to make something rather respectable here. Enjoy! Only works with Reign Of Chaos for the moment, may update that in the future.
How do I install this?
It's a wise idea to check the readme. It's an even wiser idea to check the Hiveworkshop for how to change models in the campaign. I believe there's something to do with the registry, besides that, it's just drag and drop.
The magic of Readme.
That would be correct, the readme is the master of all things.
Hi, i'm dumb or something but, the readme says replace files. Um, where? lol. I go to the folder directory and don't see any folders that are even remotely the same. is the exe and the main folder different?
Apologies, i see a comment later that will help. Thank you in advance. :)
If they're not there, add them. I'm uber late, but for onlookers.
How I can add them wrom where?
Extract the folders into your WarCraft 3 directory, and then do this registry tweak:
Windows key -> Type in Regedit -> Navigate to [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Blizzard Entertainment\Warcraft III] -> Edit the DWORD on the right named "Allow Local Files", and set it to 1 (Hexadecimal). This enables your game to utilize custom content placed in its directory (so long as the files are placed in their right areas).
I would Love the frozen throne HD mod too.. PLZ PLZ PLZ PLZ :)
It will get worked on soon. I merely need to mess around with a few textures. Honestly, I had never planned for them to give me issues upon Frozen Throne. Shouldn't take long, but figuring out what exactly the issue is might take some time. It'll be done around the end of the summer, I'm sure. I try to keep production time brief. Thanks for downloading :)
HOW TO INSTALL: Check the readme. Besides what it might say in there, just drag and drop the files into their respected folders. If there isn't one already in the directory, just place the whole file in there. In order to make the models change in the campaign, you need to first research the tutorial on how to change Warcraft III models in the campaign. It's something to do with registry or something, but it only takes a moment or two to get it working once you follow the instructions. Thanks again to THEHIVEWORKSHOP <3.
Hi, i have one question. I have maps from region of chaos campaign and i play with my friend. If i launch frozen throne but region of chaos campaign maps will it have textures or do i need to launch with region of chaos launcher?i hope you get the question.
1 more thing, you said in readme to put folders in directory. Well i dont have Doodads or any folder in my directory of that sort.
You create them yourself.
I'm getting two errors when I try and launch on Windows 10
First is
Warcraft III Was unable to initialize DirectX. Please ensure you have DirectX8.1 or newer installed and that your display drivers are current
Second is
Please verify that your Warcraft III disc is in your CD-Rom drive, then click on "Retry"
The game runs fine without the mod of course. Ideas?

Never mind the above now, i've got it working now, after few hours. Cheers for all the modification.
how you made it work?
Hiveworkshop.com
use the first step in order to get the mod working
did it. nothing happened
This happens if you don't do the registry thing. Nothing will change without that, scroll down and find the steps in the comments, I put it in here somewhere...
Can you please tell me why the campaign wont work after intalling your mod,btw it's dope.
Hey Slaver -
First off, this mod is super beautiful and I appreciate all the hard work you've put into this thing. I do have a couple questions, however.
I'm just playing through the beginning and I'm noticing some things. In the Prologue, the cliffs are showing the old textures, and they don't match up with your newer ones.
In the first Human Campaign mission, there are some green and black boxes that pop up in various places. For example, right at the beginning, if you walk Arthas south a few clicks, there is a box where a granary should be (I think it's called a granary).
Anyhow, they're not a big deal, but I was just curious if you had a solution, or maybe I did something wrong (I read the ReadMe hah).

Are you planing on making a Warcraft 3: The Frozen Throne version? Because i really like the Expansion and i would like even more if a HD Version of it is released :D!
I have an updated version which works good but it's subjective whether I want to upload it. I'd need a reason to since I feel like most have forgotten.
I'd love it if you did. Honestly one of the reasons I never bothered downloading this is -because- it's only for RoC and not TFT. :p
Well I did it. It's uploaded. Be sure to eyeball the issues notepad so you're not shocked when the snowy trees don't pop up in Lordaeron. They work in Northrend, but I'm having issues with Lordaeron's winter tree wrapping.
i rade the install file and i honesly have no idea what to do. (aswell i tried to look for an answer at the hive but still dot know how).
can someone give me a hand please? its the first time im installing a mod
thanks!!
CONCERNING THE DIFFICULTY WITH MAKING MODELS WORK:
You need to edit Warcraft's registry, in order to allow your files to be applied. To do this, simply follow these steps:
1. Hit the "Start" button.
2. Open the "Run" sub-program.
3. Type in "regedit" (Without punctuation) and click on "OK"
4. When the Registry Editor opens, find the Main Folder called "HKEY_CURRENT_USER", and open it.
5. Open the "Software" sub-folder.
6. Search for "Blizzard Entertainment" sub-folder, and open it.
7. Click only once on "Warcraft III" sub-folder.
8. Now, you will see a list on the right side of the screen. Find the registry that says "Allow Local Files", and open it (Double click).
9. In the field of "Value Data", replace the zero (0) with number one (1). Make sure that the "Hexadecimal" flag is checked.
10. Hit okay. The registry you edited should display this in Data category: 0.00000001 (1).
(Thanks Apheraz Lucent for the detailed explanation, I had forgotten <3)
There are no "Allow Local Files" in my registry, only InstallPath, GamePath, Program, ans other things unrelated. Do I have to create it ?
Same here, or is it the ally filter?
I have an problem with step 8.There is only 1 folder
Wow, thanks for that work, thats fantastic! Would be really cool if there would be a HD MOD for frozen throne in the future too :) Anyway, i have a question about the ENB. Just tested it 5 minutes ingame and it seems to me that ENB is just making everything darker which i dont really like. Is that supposed to do that and is it doing anything else?
Like all ENB game modifications, it's set at a default. If you want to turn it off, just cntrl+f12 (or is it shift+f12?). You can edit the in game brightness to accommodate, or you can change the ENB settings in the notepad manually. It's not that hard to change the settings, just look up presets and stuff - it's just a bunch of changing 3 or 4 values and testing to your likeness.

Yeaa... Some environment textures are not working, there is no trees... In some ... Help plz <3 :(
I think you need to use a MPQ editor, backup the main Warcraft 3 mpq files,
once you open the mpq then locate the units folder then replace the mdx or blps if you want to use custom textures, got a cool looking Blood elf sorceress to work.
If needed you do it in this order, backup the files.
1 download a mpq editor,got mine from here. Zezula.net
2 Open the MPQ files with the editor
3 Locate the file of the unit or building or whatever, i chose the sorceress and replaced the blp file with this texture, Hiveworkshop.com
4 then just drag and drop a blp or mdx into the unit folder then agree to replace the existing file/s.
Note i didn't try replace any mdx folders from this mod to my MPQ so i don't know what will happen but i just wanted to share this as my base sorceress looks badass.
I used the mpq editor, replaced everything but still a lot of textures are missing :(
If its the textures find and track down the BLP files on the associated file on the mpq, if not find something better on hive, i replaced the human buildings with high elven ones and there great.
If the textures are missing then i guess...find something else to replace them?
Released an updated version.
can you make an installer for this ?
