This is an all-in-one patch that fixes the issues with the GOG and Steam release of Shogo: Mobile Armor Division. This patch fixes the music, adds a widescreen patch, and fixes the graphical issues with dgVoodoo. Check the description for the full rundown.
ABOUT SHOGO FIX:
I've put together this all-in-one patch to provide an easy and quick fix for Shogo: Mobile Armor Division.
Although the game is sold on GOG and Steam, both versions of the game are completely broken.
Fixing the game is quite a complicated process, so I've created this patch for everyone to use to save you
all the time and effort that I had to go through to get it running on modern machines.
Thanks, and enjoy this classic game!
THIS PATCH WILL INSTALL:
- dgVoodoo, which fixes the game's graphical problems and allows hardware acceleration.
- A widescreen patch mod.
- A modified DLL file that will enable the game's soundtrack.
INSTALLATION:
Run this exe, browse to your Shogo directory, and then extract to there.
WIDESCREEN PATCH NOTE:
Before launching the game, enable the widescreen patch by clicking "Customize" at the menu,
then select the widescreen patch, click "Add", then click OK. Make sure to also click "Display"
and set it to your desired resolution.
DGVOODOO NOTE:
If for whatever reason you want to change the settings for dgVoodoo, go to the Shogo directory
and run "dgVoodooCpl.exe". This is the program that will allow you to change the settings.
CREDITS:
- Widescreen patch made by Wobak.
- dgVoodoo made by Dege.
- Music DLL file modified by me, Raiden1407.
Thanks for this!
Works better than my own attempts, but there are still serious issues:
- Almost every time I try to launch the game, a small black window appears and then closes, and that's it. I got the game to launch twice out of about 20 attempts.
- I can see a flickering mouse cursor.
- Mouse is super-sensitive and jerky. Fixed by turning polling rate down to 125Hz from 1000.
- Text in upper-left corner is messed up, making it barely readable.
I think part of my problem is that I have a laptop with Intel and nVidia GPUs. Seems to confuse the game horribly.
Hi there! I've definitely seen the flickering mouse cursor, though I usually ignore at. As far as I know there's not really a way to get rid of it, unless you go to your mouse cursor settings and set it to be invisible. Though that's probably too much effort for such a minor thing, unless it's really that bad for you.
As for the other issues you mention, I can't say I've experienced them and I've used these patches on two different computers now with the same results. I've never had issues launching the game, even when I didn't have the patches on it would still launch. Then again I don't use a laptop, only desktop computers. Your PC having two GPUs from different companies would indeed cause problems. I assume that's why these things are happening.
I might suggest trying to put the game in Windows XP compatibility mode, or compatibility mode for another OS. That may fix it. Maybe also try running the game as administrator? Might also be worth looking through the Display settings at the launcher and seeing what it's set on. It should be set to dgVoodoo.
Sorry I can't really be much help I'm not sure what to do about those issues. I can only assume it's because of your computer and Shogo is a fussy game when it comes to that stuff.
Thanks for the follow-up.
I read somewhere that there might be a DLL fix for the cursor issue, but I didn't chase it down because I had already given up on the launching issue.
I had already tried all those suggestions with no improvement. The good news is that I recently rebuilt my old computer (PIII-550, Geforce 2 MX, Win98SE) and Shogo is running fine on it.
Ah, that's good to hear then. Shogo really is a fussy game on modern hardware. So is Blood 2 which runs on the same engine.
The dll that fixes the mouse issue is dinput. :)
- you can fix the flickering mouse cursor by using the dinput.zip at the bottom of this thread : Github.com
- I just turned down the sensitivity in-game
- you can fix the broken text by turning off ClearType in windows settings. If you're a lazy f** (like me), you can install karoplan's cleartype-switch program : Karpolan.com and create a dirty .bat file that will turn off ClearType when launching shogo and back on once you're done. Here's mine (make sure to change the addresses) :
"D:\outils\ClearType Switch\ClearTypeSwitch.exe" s+ c-
"D:\jeux\Shogo - Mobile Armor Division\Shogo.exe"|more
:waittofinish
timeout /T 2 /nobreak >nul
tasklist /fi "IMAGENAME eq client.exe" /fo csv 2>NUL | find /I "client.exe">NUL
if "%ERRORLEVEL%"=="0" goto waittofinish
if "%ERRORLEVEL%"=="1" goto end
:end
"D:\outils\ClearType Switch\ClearTypeSwitch.exe" s+ c+
Nice to see people that still play this game!
cool thank you, if I could do mods, I would love to reanimate this wonderful game
I can only draw
I tried to download this but Chrome warned me that it was a dangerous file, I decided to keep it anyway but then Windows Security stopped it again claiming there was a Trojan file in it.
Should I disregard these warnings or is something wrong?
Disregard the warnings, it would be because it's packed in a self-extracting WinRAR installer and for some reason browsers and anti-virus software always go nuts with those things.
Does this patch also fix the FOV or no?
I think the widescreen patch already does that, I'm not 100% sure but I never had any issue with the FOV.

ATTENTION EVERYONE: There is actually a fix for the flickering mouse cursor, check here: Gog.com
My anti virus software warns me its not safe then deletes it.
It's because it's a self-extracting winrar exe, and for some reason they always make anti-virus software go nuts. There's no virus I assure you, Moddb wouldn't allow the file to be uploaded if it was.
