Serious Doom the Simple Encounter version 2.8
(March 8th 2019)

this is a fan-made tribute to the Serious Sam series

Many resources are from Batandy's "Retro Encounter" mod
(discontinued)

new stuff I added:
-Serious Sam high resolution player sprites (a few front angles not imported yet though)
-Biomechanoid Minor sprites (replaces Arachnotron, but it's faster & more aggressive) (sprites made using Garrys Mod & Krita)
-3 new whacky zombie-oid characters, a pumpkinheaded shotgunner & green gooey chaingunner
-tribute maps to Serious Sam Classic levels (single player/coop) replacing Most Doom levels
-"hippie" blood setting (flowers for blood, like in classic SS & HD games & BFE)
-modified glowing pumpkin sprites for people who like lava lamps & stuff (see map31)
-also if you play Doom 1 you'll see a lotta pumpkins because they replace dead & gibbed marine corpses
-a text file retextures any leftover Doom levels from Doom 1, Final Doom or Doom 2 so that they have some EGYPT textures
-a swampy green PainElemental now spits Marsh Hoppers at you instead of Lost Souls
-new high resolution skies for Serpent Yards, South America, Outer Space,
-Lava Golem enemy replaces Cyberdemon
-smashable pumpkin replaces dead marines & various "meat"

I PLAN TO ADD :
-Biomechanoid Major (larger red Biomechanoid who fires rockets)
-finish all Serious Sam player sprites
-improve and fix up the maps
-music changes during levels for swarms vs peace
-Sam voices at key moments (ex, player approaches Lasergun "Now i got your ticket to hell" etc)
-Cucurbito Chainsaw Pumpkin Killer dude
-Green Reptiloids replacing Revenants
-those reptilian soldiers from The Second Encounter that go "Uwuwuwuwuwuwuwuwuuwuwuwuwuwuuwugh!Eeeueuwuwuwuwuwuuwuwuwghghghgh!" & shoot lasers at you that go "SHHHEEEEWWWW"
-better Gnaar sprites using Garry's Mod ragdolls
-male gnaars as well as females
-Reeban Electro Fish for underwater areas
-SERIOUS bosses, like for the Pyramid level, or Tower of Babel, or the Pit

(I also need to update my Timesplitters mod :p )

I meant for this mod to be a much simpler Retro Encounter,
without all the extraneous features like
- reloading,
- ridiculous recoil that makes your screen point up after firing (setPitch)
- too many cutscenes & ACS scripts during levels that causes crashing
(although I plan to implement some
music changes & Sam's voice later
when I learn how to do that)
- weapon aiming (iron sites or whatever they're called)
- other weapons like Ghost buster, railgun, sniper gun, etc

I meant for this mod to feel and play more like Vanilla Doom but with jumping

however then I did get kinda serious & added cool light show effects
-a bunch of weapons splash bright lights around when you fire.
-check out the flamethrower on MAP31 the Medievil castle.
-shotgun & pistols splash yellow light around the room when fired
-minigun splashes bright light blue light when it fires (It's also SERIOUS now in the damage & firing rate)
-a lot of projectiles now have glowing lights around them because I like doing that I think it's pretty

I recommend you check that one out too! It still rocks even though it's technically unfinished he claims

or other little mods from Realm667 & Zdoom forums etc, for instance I used a rat.wad for the Marsh Hopper code
