Unlike the previous unfinished mod files release this .zip file contains a working version of the mod which can be played without having to go through all the files and assemble everything manually. Also includes campaign maps not released earlier, along with some fixes and gameplay changes.
To install, unzip the data file and place it in the A&A folder in your documents. Be sure to rename, move, or otherwise backup the data file already there (this is where your saved games and maps are kept from vanilla).
This is most likely the last and most complete release this mod will recieve. Enjoy
if i can ask, how do you exactly play skirmish with this?
Sorry, didn't see your comment here for a while. The mod was made pretty much solely for campaign (and perhaps some custom map) gameplay, and so there's no real way that I remember to make either SICON or the Arachnids show up in a random match.
I can see about making a patch thats adds them as separate, playable factions if you're still interested.
oh don't worry its fine, i wasn't honest to god expecting to get a respond in the first place so i am quite content to start with.
i see, and it does make sense with how arachnid bases where set up and all in retrospect, that being said, i do legitimately think that with current tools that there currently are, you basically could honest to god make skirmish work without a doubt, sure there can be debated on how good it is but in my eyes i do think that SICON and arachnids at it stage prior to cut of development to be good at skirmish, not amazing obviously but at the very least good enough to function and be entertaining
PS:keep up the good work on that roblox mod, it coming out fcking great and i can't wait to get my hand on it, i never knew such a thing or time ever existed in roblox the more i read on it and all the more i get interested and invested, can't believe i was wasting my time on those year trying to get old abandonware games to work on my PC and not checking that out, i think i would had fallen in love back then
I try to respond to all relevant comments on my mods. It's just a little difficult to see when and where they come, since I don't recieve any notification.
Returning to this mod to do a playthrough for my youtube channel, I have to admit I was pleasantly surprised with the basic SICON/Arachnid gameplay, at least from the SICON side. I'm glad someone else had enjoyed it - my memories before had been that the balance was not very good, and perhaps this would be more apparent playing from the Arachnid side. I may look into an update of this mod that adds some custom models instead of vanilla and kohan reskins, and add both Starship Troopers factions as something one can play in Custom/Skirmish.
On the RoWar mod: I cannot thank you enough for your kind words. Honestly it has been hard to keep working on that mod, given how incredibly niche it is and how little attention and feedback it has recieved, for the work that is required. All my work has been basically a love letter to a time I - and I guess relatively few other people - was able to experience in all its glory, and that has been largely the only thing moving me forward - until your comment. I have added as much description ingame as I can to show the real history behind techs and units and factions -in some cases a culmination of years of research-, and it makes me very glad to know that someone might actually be interested in what they have to say - engrossed in that point in history for reason other than nostalgia.
honestly, i think the best way for you to get people interested in your mod is to do just a simple advertising of it, maybe show it around in some places up in roblox and am sure someone who was in that time or been hearing about it would give you a bump in interest, because in honest to god ye deserve it man, its hard work you doing here and it would be a shame for hard work to go unnoticed, specially in the place you basing it on
