Tried converting that already, doesn't work too well. There are issues with a few files, specifically status sounds, also voices seem to be in worse quality than 37800 counterparts?

The original patch does not work on SourceNext, but this one does when you use it with my Classic REbirth DLL.

The voice(new) remade 2017 PSX 37800hz resample(sony forge pro) in 44100hz, discovered that the non-standard frequencies the game plays with artifacts, 37800hz similar to the 4bit adpcm, RE2 only 22050hz or 44100hz works well, the same goes for music. Music(new) with GC because it is as close to the PC version of the sound and length of the tracks only higher quality.

It works totally fine when converted to OGG, I suppose the game libraries don't like what you fetched to it. On the other hand, upsampled voices sound noisy when ported to OGG.

And Yes good music does not make sense without fixing the audio balance if the sound went to one right speaker )) Maybe this can be corrected using .EXE but I fixed it through .RDT

Only issue left about music is some incorrect panning, which I will correct later. The code is faulty, whoever made the port couldn't simulate too well how BGM works, but it can be fixed. After all Dualshock and Sourcenext use the same exact RDT, which I wouldn't touch since the original engine could handle all the music just fine.

(OGG) main thing that after conversion the length of the track has not changed, or will be violated loop infinity sound. in addition to the left sound in one channel, there is a small problem, even some of the tracks are only in mono, the game does not play them in stereo, such as the battle with the alligator, factory , STARS room when Claire comes in. But that's half the trouble in comparison with RE1 there a limit on the size of the audio file 3mb.

I don't hear any voices. I installed your REbirth dll and got this all set up, but still hear some noises like reloading, but when you pull the trigger there is nothing, and all scenes with voice work is missing.

You have to keep the mod_vorbis.1.7z file compressed in the same directory as bio2 1.10.exe instead of extracting it. This will cause a Mod Selection window to pop up before starting the game. Click the dropdown menu, select "RE2 - High Quality Sound" and you're good to go!
It's kinda weird, yeah, I'd rather have the sound mod just replace the originals.

Man What A Mess!! I don't know what file should I download to get the HQ sound. Whoever upload this should just upgrade available file and not provide extra links that just cause confusion.

Also, as someone said, it would be better if this HQ sound pack is meant to replace the previous files. It's obvious

So, yeah, this was a dumb comment of mine... Check the documentation about the mod support the DLL provides. Quite easy and comfortable way to go instead of messing around with the game (original) files

Would it be possible to make a version of this that doesn't run as a Rebirth Mod? I'd like to play other mods with this high quality sound, but currently that isn't an option.

Thanks for all your hard work on this!

Kendo and leons voice plays in slow motion on current CR dlls. I don't remember this happening on older CR dlls. hmm. If I play without high quality they play at the correct speed. Tried making a new .ini that didn't help either. Also tried turning off Vsync fast and triple buffering in nvidia and that had no effect as well. Tried setting CR to Low, Medium and High had no effect. Tried everything on the CR config, I guess high quality audio no longer plays at the correct rate.

Can confirm, with the sourcenext version with that .dll and the 1.1 .exe, when trying to play with HQ sounds all voices sound in slow motion (slower tempo and slower pitch), but the normal sounds work perfectly.

Didn't play much like that but I noticed that the voices were the only affected sound effects.

For all those that want this mod (for painfully obvious reasons) but enjoy the original Resident Evil 2 Title voice vs. the Gamecube "RE4" title voice: prior to copying and pasting the mod files into the game, go into Common\Sound\core\ from the main game installation folder and copy core17.sap to your desktop. Install the mod by copying and pasting the files to your installation folder as instructed above. After the mod is installed and verified to be working (should hear the gamecube title voice opposed to the original), go back and copy that original "core17.sap" from your desktop back into the Common\Sound\core\ folder and replace it. This will revert the gamecube title voice back to the original title voice without messing with any other sound fixes from this mod. Happy Modding!
