LibreCoop aims to bring an Open Source coop mode to Doom 3 BFG Edition, powered by RBDoom3BFG. This is only a TechDemo based in LibreCoop alpha 1.1 for Dhewm3, with some modifications to run in Doom 3 BFG Edition. This version is more stable than Tech Demo 1 by far but yet only a tech demo and shouldn't be used tow too high expectations.
ONLY FOR TEST PURPOSES,
DON'T EXPECT TO PLAY THE WHOLE CAMPAIGN WITH THIS!
Changelog from Tech Demo 1:
- Updated from LibreCoop dhewm3 Alpha 1 to Alpha 1.1
- Improved net sync
- Mars City 1, Alpha labs 1, Alpha Labs 3 and Delta labs 2a don't crash anymore while hosting.
- Several bug fixes and crash fixes.
LibreCoop (BFG Edition) is a basically a fork of RBDoom3BFG with code from dhewm3's Librecoop (the original version of the mod). And this also includes OpenCoop 2.0 (+ 2.1 patch) maps data, so credits for the maps are for the whole opencoop devs team and anyone else involved in those maps.
How to install
- Drop all the files in your Doom 3 BFG Folder (ex: C:\Program files(x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\DOOM 3 BFG Edition)
- Go to the librecoop folder (ex: C:\Program files(x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\DOOM 3 BFG Edition\librecoop) and open LibreCoop normal.bat
- Create a server (you need to open the port 27015 in your modem/router) selecting the COOP game mode and then select a map, but these maps do not work so avoid selecting them:
Communications
Recycling 1
Site 3.
- To join into a server just open the console and type: "connect <<ip>>", example "connect 12.12.12.12"
Recommendation: For testing I highly recommed using net_allowCheats 1 (in client users machines mostly, and yes, the client machine is the one who needs to set net_allowCheats 1), in order to be able tu use noclip when/if you are stuck in a place. (that can happen in this experimental tech demo)
Remember that this is just a Tech Demo, not even an alpha release!. I upload this only for people who want to have some fun testing it.
If you want to compile this for Linux or another OS, here is the source code I used to make this build: Github.com
Have fun testing.
Is this still being developed?
