Halo Covenant Edition for PC [Halo Custom Edition] - the Story as told by the Covenant
Play on Covenant team, and defeat the Cyborgs! Play as a Jackal with a hand-held shield to deflect their bullets, and uncover the truth to
Halo's mysteries.
You get to play as a Jackal guard hired to protect a Covenant Resistance member for observation. Meanwhile, his motivation to investigate a leak relating to a secret facility in the swamp has left everyone with more questions than answers. What is the Holy Grail of technology that the Covenant is fighting so desperately to control?
Jackal's Journey provides a new look into Halo's beautiful architecture, and provides the ability to explore behind-the-scenes with your Covenant allies. As the game unfolds, so will the schism between the Elite Commanders and the Elite Spec Ops units. Can you choose your side in a war? Or is that choice already predetermined by math and logic?
To install, copy the maps into your Halo Custom Edition\maps folder. Don't forget to back up your original map files. Right-click your Halo Custom edition short-cut, and select 'Open File Location'. Copy these maps into the maps folder. The following is Halo's internal naming convention:
a10 - Pillar of Autumn
a30 - Halo
a50 - Truth and Reconciliation
b30 - Silent Cartographer
b40 - Assault on the Control Room
c10 - 343 Guilty Spark
c20 - The Library
c40 - Two Betrayals
d20 - Keyes
d40 - The Maw
The jackal does not have regenerating body shield, but a hand-held shield. Therefore the gameplay dynamic is much different. Enemies no longer respawn, though they are dropped off during epic dropship battles endlessly. In order to stop the waves of enemies, you must defeat the Cyborg Army that is threatening the Covenant Empire.
This game is much improved on my previous grunt mod. Cutscenes are now voice acted and the story will be much deeper. There are objectives this time too, new lightmaps, and more Easter Eggs. I'm putting everything I learned into this, and taking a lot more time into testing.
To use your shield, you must be crouching. Keep in mind, the shield is not visible in the first-person-view. Jackals hold their shields in their right hands. The Jackal Player can drive Ghosts and Warthogs, and use all guns. Covenant allies can board the Warthog gunner and passenger seats with you. The Jackal Player also comes with cool first-persion textures for the hands. Uses MosesofEgypt's refined tag set.

Man, this mod is incredibly good, I've played many modified campaigns and this is definetly one of the best. It's pure fresh air. I finished the grunt campaign and it was very fun, but I'm looking forward the Jackal one. As I'm playing through the demo I noticed the amount of work put into it. I'd love to see the completed campaign one day. How's the project going?
BTW it's WAY harder than the Grunt one, those marines are giving me hell!

I've been in a bit of a slump recently, and working on other projects momentarily, and hoping to pick up development of both the campaign and the Firefight map pack next year. b30 is going to be released as soon as it is ready as an update here.
Playing as jackal has a whole new challenge, and is much more serious in scope than my grunt mod.
There seems to be a bug with the Truth and Reconciliation hangar section. It is not possible to use the hangar door switch.
The function does not work on keyboard. It only works with controller.
An update released today has fixed the issue.

Did you get arrested in 343 Guilty Spark yet or did you sneak through all the checkpoints? That arrested script alone took months worth of testing but I think I got it done well.
first time i goes with scroopy i finnish the mission and i played again the mission and i just rushed i saw i get arrested
i hope scroopy will survive

Yes, a lot of improvements on the grunt mod were taken from the community. Feel free to make a request, or report bugs, but Jackal's Journey has a plan for the story for more than a year now. It's very political and based off my life as a UFOlogist. If it's a spoiler maybe just DM me.
in 343 guilty spark every weapon i drop it dissapear
That's so I could make the arrested script work. It's kinda like a bug and a feature. (unit_doesnt_drop_weapons (players )) so when you feign death upon arrest, you don't accidentally pick up the items you dropped when you're feign dead. That causes you to be unable to pick up new weapons. I couldn't figure out how to disarm the player any other way.
There might still be humans and flood fighting against each other. Next mission is Two Betrayals, then Keyes most likely.
there is a problem with Scroopy when you escort him on legendary difficulty because
HE GOES ******* KAMIKAZE TO THE MARINES to die and its impossible to beat mission 4 on legendary
Pillar of Autumn vanilla has a secret code. 343 Guilty Spark vanilla has a leak. They're hidden in plain sight, like how Cortana is a subliminal message about telepathy.
This mod is amazing. Any idea when The Library (or Two Betrayals, as the dialogue suggests is next) will be released? Awesome story!

The Library has been released as a bonus map. You are going to need to use console command object_destroy in order to complete the level.
Most progress is going to be moving to Steam Workshop, which has automatic updates.

The Library was a request to be like Hell. It is meant to be impossible. I'll try to make up, I don't mean to let anyone down. New remote viewing features are going to be added soon for the firefight maps.

I want to say I offer my sincere apologies too, I let my feelings get to me easily, just cause I couldn't complete the level. you're not letting anyone down. anyway, I just finished the game, and I must say I wasn't expecting to get emotionally attached to a covenant, mainly Scroopy and the Jackal protagonist. almost made me cry. I was fully expecting to watch the vanilla ending to Halo CE after the dialogue before it just booted me back to the menu while it was playing lol. I may make a full playthrough of this on youtube. keep doing what you do, no one's stopping you.
Hey, we all have emotions. That's the moral of the story. I won't know if you don't tell me. If you follow closely, The G Man dies right when he realized who is controlling the Jackal's augmented cognition brain implant, it's you! This is a very difficult story to tell, I hope I got it right.
hi! i have been following this mod since it's release in custom edition, and the only thing i can think of to make it better is to have a third person option integrated in the mod, when you play in third person using a separate mod you can see your shield and its a hundred times easier to use it, but sometimes that mod crashes the game for some reason
